Friday 8pm update: PET is now caring for evacuated four-legged guests at Sky Hawk Ranch. Among our newest arrivals are two remarkable senior horses—one is 35 years old and the other 31! They're settling in and receiving the care they need.

We're also getting ready to welcome cats. The Humane Society of the Ochocos has reached capacity for kitties, and PET is standing by to provide a safe place for any additional feline evacuees who need shelter.

Thank you to everyone supporting these animals and the people who love them. We'll continue sharing updates as needs evolve.

PET has been deployed to Sky Hawk Ranch (about 10 miles north of the Deschutes County Fairgrounds) to help with large animals evacuated in Crook County.

The address is 6287 NE 33rd St. Redmond. We haven't had any animals check in yet, but we will be here if needed. We're working in partnership with the Humane Society of the Ochocos, who is handling small animals. We are ready to intake large animals now.

With wildfire smoke from the Akawa Butte Fire and other area fires affecting our community, Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District has free N95 masks available for individuals and families who may need them.

Masks are available at the main station at 301 South Elm Street in Sisters during regular office hours (Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), while supplies last.

Please remember that N95 masks must fit snugly over the nose and mouth to provide the best protection. Children and individuals with certain medical conditions may need additional guidance before wearing one.

Stay informed about current air quality, limit time outdoors when smoke levels are high, and check on family members, neighbors, and others who may be especially sensitive to smoke.

Please share this information with anyone who may need a mask.

Our wonderful team has just finished cleaning up and tending to our four-legged guests for the day. All is well at the fairgrounds. Thanks to everyone who has filled a shift, offered to help in so many ways (hay, etc.) and provided support. Stay tuned for updates!

Thursday July 23, 4:15 pm:
PET is still caring for, and accepting, evacuated animals. Anyone who is evacuated or wants to get out early (recommended with large animals) can bring their animals to the Deschutes County Fairgrounds, at the HORSE barn. PET is on site! We will most likely be on site here through Saturday; thereafter a new location (TBD) due to the fair. Stay posted.
