Topsy Grade in Northern California! 41miles, 3,500ft of gain. Great pictures and comment from ChristopherB!

"I rode this on May 12th. This was a beautiful route and I highly recommend it... The first 9 miles was smooth gravel with a gentle climb and great views of the Klamath River. It was magical to hear the river rushing as I pedaled."

Fun times in Emporia, Kansas at Unbound … congrats to our Gravel Champ , Board Member , and Gravel Girl for representing Team Dirty Freehub. Just one mile of pushing bikes through mud! Crazy day of lightening storms. And yes, you should be worried when a race hands out paint sticks to scrape mud.

Great comment from NorbyJ on Green Ridge Lookout! Nothing like some looming weather and bears to make you pedal faster :)

"Beautiful ride! (Though I caught this one late afternoon on a storm day and the winds and incoming rain and 40F temps stressed me out a bit trying to get back before dark!), The views of the all the Cascade Peaks to the West are incredible! Trail and roads ride great (I’m on an OPEN wide with 2.25” 650b tires) and it rode fantastic. 1 blowdown up top on the ridge, 2 bear sightings (one on the climb up at mile 12 and another with cubs in the brush off FS 1130-310. Neither caused problems, but I kept my spray out handy in the single track trails). Climbs were all long and steady, nothing too punchy steep."

We love fan mail … this is from Scott who took a group to Fossil, Oregon to ride gravel:

“Four of us rented a place in Fossil and rode gravel for five days. Every one of our rides was a DFH ride. The routes were great (Priest Hole and Happy Camp were my favs). No way I would have figured those out on my own. We also LOVED all the info. As a group we watched the video on Kinzua and thoroughly read your Shaniko page after doing that ride. I’m sure it is a ton of work to put those pages together but the effort was definitely appreciated by us.”

In this podcast episode from Dirty Freehub, conservation expert Skyler Vold describes the greater sage grouse as a foundational and visually striking bird of the Western United States. These birds are sagebrush obligates, meaning they depend entirely on that specific habitat for food and shelter, even thriving on toxic plants during harsh winters. However, their survival is currently threatened by massive wildfires, the spread of invasive grasses, and the encroachment of juniper trees. Because they function as an umbrella species, protecting the sage grouse ensures the stability of the broader ecosystem and numerous other animals that share their home. This discussion emphasizes that monitoring these birds provides essential data on the overall environmental condition of the Oregon high desert.
