Hi all!

It's hard to believe we're over half way through the season, but it's true!

We are currently in need of breakfast items... soft / chewy granola bars, hard-boiled eggs, peanut butter & jelly & bread for PB&J sandwiches, tangerines, juice boxes... you get the idea.

Of course, we always need people to provide dinners as well, so grab your friends, neighbors, co-workers or church group and go to RedmondShelterFood.org to sign up! And remember, you're free to use the kitchen at Mountain View, so no worries there! Just let me know you need it so we can coordinate things on our end.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need additional information, and as always, thank you sooooo much for your heart to serve in this way!

Many blessings,

Dart

It's that time of year again, and the Redmond Winter Shelter will be opening their doors next Tuesday, November 15th at 6pm at Mountain View Fellowship, located at 1475 SW 35th Street, just one half mile south of Highland Avenue.

This year the Redmond Winter Shelter will not move from church to church as in past years, but will remain at Mountain View Fellowship for the duration of the season. While this will make things a little bit easier, we still need a LOT of help to provide warm meals for the 30-40 people we will serve every night from November 15th through March 15th.

Now, making a meal for over 20 people may sound hard, but it doesn’t have to be because you don’t have to do it alone! Many hands make light work. So get together with your book club, church group, neighbors, quilting or sewing group, friends, or coworkers... a few pre-made casseroles from Costco or a few big pots of spaghetti or macaroni and cheese and a salad typically feeds everyone quite easily. And best of all, you can even use the commercial kitchen at Mountain View Fellowship, so it can all be done on site with no need to transport anything!

We've updated the information on the MealTrain site, (RedmondShelterFood.org) but PLEASE message me if you have ANY questions, or need additional information. I'm happy to help!!!

As always, thank you so much for your heart to serve in this way!

Many blessings,

Dart

SHEPHERD’S HOUSE to PROVIDE COOLING SHELTERS in BEND and REDMOND

Shifts available on the main landing page for Bend & Redmond, we would love to have your help!

Buildings will be open to bring unhoused neighbors in from extreme heat.

BEND and REDMOND, July 22 — Shepherd’s House Ministries will open daytime cooling shelters at their facilities in Bend and Redmond from Monday to Friday, July 25-29, from 11:00am-6:00pm. The Bend shelter will be located at the Lighthouse Navigation Center at 275 NE 2nd St in Bend. The Redmond shelter will be located at 1350 S. Highway 97 in Redmond, a facility acquired by Shepherd’s House awaiting renovation in coming months. With daytime temperatures forecast over 100 for consecutive days, Shepherd’s House will provide a safe and cool space for people experiencing homelessness in Redmond and Bend. Days and hours may be responsive to the dynamic nature of extreme weather events.

Extreme heat poses a risk to the health and life of persons living outside, specifically the risks of dehydration and heat sickness. Shepherd’s House is committed to feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless. Redmond City Director Andrew Hoeksema says, “Everyone in Central Oregon will be uncomfortable on these hottest days of the summer. However, many of our neighbors experiencing homelessness have very limited options for going inside to cool off and rest away from the sun. As we seek to extend love and service to our neighbors who need it most, we will open shelters with air conditioning, water, snacks and personal connection. We are grateful for all who will partner with us in this effort.”

The Shepherd’s House SHARE Van will also be visiting spots around Bend to deliver cold water bottles and snacks, and to check on people living without shelter during this heat wave.

CALL TO ACTION: Shepherd’s House will welcome volunteers at both sites to assist with sheltering. We also invite donations of water bottles, freezer snacks (e.g. otter pops), and pre-packaged snacks. Make a financial contribution online at www.shepherdshousemintries.org

Dear Shepherd’s House Volunteers in and around Redmond,

We’ve got some HOT HOT days coming next week! Just like we opened the doors of our not yet renovated building in Redmond for emergency warming shelter in the winter cold, we will open next week for emergency cooling shelter in the summer heat. This is life-saving work and such a great way to show love and concern to our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Please plan on joining us as a volunteer or donate a meal, water, frozen snacks, etc.

The Emergency Cooling Shelter in Redmond will be at 1350 S. Hwy 97, the old Grace Gate Church Building.
We will be open Monday to Friday, July 25-29, 11am-6pm.
Donations will be received during those hours: water bottles, frozen snacks (e.g. Otter Pops), pre-packaged snacks, etc.
We are requesting lunches each day (simple sandwiches are great) and a prepared dinner to serve at 5pm. Think simple on these hot days!
Expecting about 25-30 person to feed each day.

VOLUNTEERING:
We have set up three shifts each day, 2 or 2.5 hours each. We have also listed both meals each day as volunteer tasks.
We have upgraded to a new volunteer software that is easier and better for you and us to manage.
Please point your browser to: https://shministries.volunteerhub.com/ and scroll down to see a full calendar of volunteer options for next week.

Please email me with any questions about sheltering or needs. Please email Brenda if you have specific questions about Volunteer Hub.

We will rely on you all and so many other community partners to make this possible. Thank you in advance!

With gratitude, Andrew

Hi all!

We are moving to Redmond Christian Church for our final month of the Redmond Winter Shelter! Redmond Christian Church is located at 536 SW 10th Street. The entrance to the shelter will be the doors facing the parking lot on the corner of 9th and Evergreen.

We currently have no Meal Train sign-ups for this last month, 😳 so we desperately need your help to end the season well! Please grab some friends to cook a meal or two, (or order pizza!) and help us fill up the last 28 days of this season with yummy dinners full of love for our guests! And, please feel free to share this link with your friends, family, neighbors, church groups, etc! 😊
