😥 Help us find a home!
As many of you know, we've been asked to move.
We had a great lead on a space where we - alongside other service providers - could happily exist sometime in late 2024.
That possibility has come to an end.
So... Who do you know?

We need a building:
-accessible to transportation
-accessible to other major services
-large enough for a commercial kitchen and dining space and room for offices for our colleagues from other service agencies

Thanks to the generosity of our community (individuals, businesses, and foundations alike) the Hunger Prevention Coalition is thrilled to announce that $44,000 has just been distributed to our partner agencies. Each quarter, HPC distributes funds raised to improve the nutritional content of meals and food boxes through the addition of meat, dairy, produce, eggs, and other high-cost/high nutrition foods.

HPC selects agencies in the tri-county area who provide barrier-free meals or food boxes to anyone in need through a grant application process. Our 2023-24 partners are : Bethlehem Inn, Care and Share Community Outreach, Council on Aging of Central Oregon, Family Kitchen, The Giving Plate, Inc., Jericho Road, LaPine Community Kitchen, Madras Community Food Pantry, Nativity Lutheran Food Pantry, Saving Grace, Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank, St Vincent De Paul- Bend, St Vincent De Paul- Crook County, St Vincent De Paul- La Pine, St Vincent De Paul-Redmond.

If you would like to help add nutritious food to your neighbors’ meals, please look for the “Donate” button at the top of the HPC website.

Notable recent grants from the highlight a generous spirit of giving to the Hunger Prevention Coalition in the first four months of its fiscal year.

Four of the recent grants from the OCF will be used exclusively for the purchase of nutritious food by HPC member agencies: $10,000 from the Elga Brown Fund, $5,000 from the Mary Ellen Fay Fund, $1,000 from an Anonymous Fund, and $3,000 from the McCleary Family Fund. A fifth grant for $5,000 from the Robert G. Kirby Fund of the OCF supports HPC operating funds.

Our completely transparent budget picture:
48% = food and service products
42% = people keeping the food and the people safe and keeping us funded
4% = occupancy, utilities, accounts payable/receivable, payroll administration (thank you, Trinity Episcopal Church - Bend, OR for this valuable way-under-market support)
remaining 6% (in order) = janitorial, equipment purchase, maintenance, communications, online presence and donation software

We could only take a wild stab at the budget for next year. The need will likely increase beyond what we can anticipate. Food costs are skyrocketing.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
