Ellipse Theatre Community invites performers to audition for our upcoming production of "The Importance of Being Earnest", Oscar Wilde’s beloved comedy of manners filled with wit, romance, mistaken identities, and delightful absurdity.
Regular Auditions
* Sunday, June 7
3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
* Monday, June 8
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Callbacks (if needed)
* Wednesday, June 10
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Please Note: Actors may arrive anytime within the audition window. Auditions will be held on a first-come, first-served basis. Please allow time to complete audition paperwork and be prepared to stay longer should the director request additional readings or material.
**Actors will be expected to perform with British accents.**

Please arrive early to complete audition paperwork and be prepared to read sides from the script. Sides are available on our website at etcbend.org/auditions
CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES
John “Jack” Worthing, J.P., aka Ernest - 30s, A wealthy young gentleman who takes life seriously. Jack is Cecily’s guardian and is in love with Gwendolen Fairfax.
Algernon Moncrieff - 30s, Brilliantly witty and delightfully selfish, Algernon is Jack’s best friend and the nephew of Lady Bracknell. He falls in love with Cecily Cardew.
Gwendolen Fairfax - 20s, Aristocratic, charming, and fashionably sophisticated. Gwendolen is Lady Bracknell’s daughter and is in love with Jack.
Lady Bracknell - 55+, Domineering, cunning, mercenary, and highly opinionated. A formidable woman determined to secure an advantageous marriage for her daughter.
Cecily Cardew - 20s, Romantic, imaginative, and charmingly naïve. Cecily is Jack’s ward and becomes enamored with Algernon.
Rev. Canon Chasuble - 55+ The pleasant rector on Jack’s estate who harbors affection for Miss Prism.
Miss Prism - 50+ Cecily’s governess. Intellectual and proper, though with a hidden romantic side. She once wrote a very important novel.
Lane - 30s–40s, Algernon’s impeccably composed manservant.
