The Bemidji Community Food Shelf has been running a farm for more than a decade. Over the past several years, the 3.5-acre plot hasn't quite been at full capacity, but at its peak it produced more than 21,000 lb. of food a year. This summer, they're hoping to get back…

WOW! Did our farm volunteers get a lot done today! Potatoes: PLANTED! Tomato trellis: INSTALLED! Raised beds: WEEDED! We are so thankful for everyone who showed up to get all of this done by noon.

If you weren't able to come today you have another chance tomorrow--come in the morning, lend a hand, and be done by lunch! It is also supposed to be cloudier and cooler tomorrow 🥵If we get enough people we can get all of our tomatoes and onions planted which would be great! Planting hours are 8:00-12:00, no experience needed.

If you are still on the fence about coming tomorrow (a little garden humor there...) Lakeland News came out today so watch tonight to see the wonderful work being done here at BCFS!

We love our volunteers! There are only 5 staff members at BCFS, with the rest of our operation depending solely on these wonderful people. Their smiling faces make all the difference our atmosphere, and the way they care for their community is inspiring. June is Volunteer Appreciation Month here at the Food Shelf, pictured below are just some of those who have served this week. Make sure to thank one of these lovely people if you see them out and about!

Volunteering at BCFS isn't just about stocking shelves or sorting donations. It's about community, purpose, and connection. And sometimes, on the hard days, it's exactly what you need.

We are so grateful for every single volunteer who walks through our doors. You give so much to this community — and we hope it gives a little something back to you too. 💛
