Enbridge is requesting a permit to allow treated wastewater from a proposed Line 5 tunnel project to be discharged under the Straits of Mackinac, putting wetlands, water quality, local wildlife, and the ecosystem at large at risk.

The Great Lakes are a vital global ecosystem, holding 20% of the world’s surface fresh water, and supplying drinking water to more than 40 million people in the U.S. and Canada. Line 5 is a major threat to the environmental health and safety of the region and all those who rely on it. Since 1975, Line 5 has had 29 spills, leaking over 1 million gallons of oil into the environment*. The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) cannot allow any further harm and Line 5 must be shut down!

This event will have speakers from multiple Indigenous and Minnesotan community led groups organizing against AI and Hyper Scale Data Centers.
