Got word that they are gonna vote on the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act during the lame duck session of the year, as soon as November 7th and we need to stop Congress from gutting NEPA and other environmental bills that protect the local say!

It is not a clean energy bill, it is a big deregulation bill that guts local control and local input. This Congress aims to force big tech Data Centers and other harmful projects into our communities we must demand they vote NO now!

Our attorneys are putting together a great case to challenge the illegal award of $50M to advance the Copperwood Mine, but we need to secure funding to make sure we can see this fight through to the end, for the sake of the Porcupine Mountains, Lake Superior, and the hope of building a REAL economy that enriches locals, not just foreign mining companies (and let’s not forget about a little thing called DEMOCRACY which will not survive if we don’t protect it — reminder that they passed the $50M without a single vote from elected lawmakers, completely subverting governance by the People, for the People).

Since launching last Monday, we’ve raised 37% of our $50,000 goal — that’s an incredible start, but let’s keep pushing! Remember, all contributions will be matched DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR by large donors, so a $100 donation becomes $200, and so on. We know this is a tough time economically for many, but the lands and waters are counting on us.

WHITE PINE - A Mining Permit Application was received by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy for the White Pine North project in Ontonagon County. The permit application proposes an underground mining operation and adjacent processing facility that would produce copper and silver concentrate. The White Pine North Project is an extension of the former mine with an expected 26-year mine life. Kinterra Copper USA LLC acquired 100% interest in the project earlier this year and secured financing to advance the project to permitting. The state offering the public opportunity to comment on the project. An in-person public meeting for the White Pine North project mining permit application, will take place November 4th at the Ontonagon School at 6pm Eastern Time. Written comments will be accepted November 4 to 5:00pm December 2 via mail and email.
