Peacemaker Resources Peacemaker Resources fosters Communication, Compassion and Connection These five areas are the key components to Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).

Peacemaker Resources is a non-profit organization based in Bemidji, Minnesota, offering a variety of programs and workshops to promote respectful and compassionate communication and interaction, through promotion of Relationship skills, Responsible decision-making, Social awareness, Self-awareness and Self-management. Peacemaker Resources understands that the most effective way to initiate positiv

e change is to offer skill-building and support across the spectrum-- from businesses that employ hundreds and implementation of a school-wide SEL approach, to working with individual families and youth groups, we offer programming tailored to fit your needs and most effectively communicate and engage with each specific audience. Schools: It's not enough to simply fill our brains with facts. A successful education develops personal character as well. Peacemaker Resources helps educators and students cultivate the skills to manage emotions, resolve conflict peacefully, and make responsible decisions. Families: Creating healthy, happy home environments is the most important aspect of our lives. Peacemaker Resources works with families to build healthy relationships by developing strong family connections, skillfully managing emotions, conflicts, and learning to navigate decision-making together. Youth: Peacemaker Resources' youth leadership programs are provided directly to children and teens, helping them develop the knowledge and skills needed to be peacemakers in their families, schools, and communities. These programs can be easily integrated into schools and community settings such as after school programs, camps, churches, and daycare settings. Work Life: Our work life benefits from positive systems of communication and conflict management that promote a welcoming, safe, trusting, workplace in which employees feel valued, supported and productive. Peacemaker Resources provides support and resources for employers to create this healthy work place.

We are excited to annouce that registration has opened for our annual Restorative Practices Training we help host and facilitate in conjunction with the Minnesota Department of Education, and with our partners at Voyageurs Expeditionary School. The offerings will be held June 15th through 18th, with 3 and 4 day options available.

Restorative practices (RP) are an approach schools and youth serving organizaitons can use to improve climate and culture, and repair relationships, based in the knowledge and worldview of many Indigenous cultures. The trainings will be facilitated by restorative practices trainers who work in/with schools and youth.

Specific Circle offerings and registration information can be found below. There are a limited number of scholarships available if that would be helpful to allow some of your staff to attend. Please reach out for more information, or should you have any questions.

Also, feel free to pass these flyers along to others that may be interested!

It is an honor to host our area educators, administration, social workers, and other youth-serving professionals here in Northern Minnesota. We look forward to seeing you in Bemidji in June!

Miigwech for all you do! ✨

You are invited to register for the 9th Annual Growing Resilient Communities Gathering of Collaboratives & Tribal Nations!

This event will be held virtually on Tuesday, June 23, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

About the event:

The 9th Annual Growing Resilient Communities Gathering of Collaboratives and Tribal Nations Addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) is a free, virtual event that supports tribal community members, Children’s Mental Health and Family Services Collaboratives, and partners as they work to reduce ACEs, strengthen core protective systems, and create self-healing communities across Minnesota.

This year’s Gathering explores how each of us can cultivate solidarity and connection in our communities. Collaboration and mutual support are vital during times of uncertainty and resource scarcity like we are experiencing today. The event will lift up stories of hope from initiatives that are working together to meet the needs and preserve the safety and wellbeing of families in our communities. Attendees will walk away with action steps to take personally and professionally that promote solidarity and connection with children, youth, and families.

Keynote presentation:

Our keynote this year will be Dr. Roy Wade, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Dept. of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wade is the lead researcher of the Philadelphia ACE Study.

Keynote presentation: From Adversity to Action: Community-Driven Strategies to Address ACEs and Build Lasting Resilience

Description: Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are not only individual challenges—they are deeply rooted in community conditions, systems, and historical inequities. This session will explore the broader community impact of ACEs, including their effects on health outcomes, educational attainment, economic stability, and intergenerational well-being. Participants will examine how communities can move beyond awareness toward collective action by implementing trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and equity-centered approaches. Drawing from real-world examples, this session will highlight strategies that strengthen protective factors at the community level, such as social connectedness, safe and stable environments, and access to supportive services.

Event hosts and sponsors:

This event is planned and organized by Familywise Services, with support from Peacemaker Resources. The project sponsors for this event include More Resilient Minnesota and the Tribal NEAR & Community Wisdom Project. This event is made possible with primary funding from the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and support from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota.

All are welcome! Anyone who wants to address the root causes of childhood adversity is encouraged to attend.

Please feel free to share!
