FEEL GOOD FRIDAY…

On this Good Friday, we feel good thanks to the generosity of Kristen Sandmeyer Cadette Girl Scout, an 8th grader at St. Philips. She dropped off cookies for our first responders this week.

Kristen sold a remarkable 3275 packages. Part of her proceeds from her sales were used to purchase cookies for sheriff, police, fire and ambulance. Congratulations on your accomplishment and thanks for thinking of all of us.

Tonight, Bemidji Police Officers Federation members and their family members assisted the United Way of Bemidji Area in packing bags for the backpack buddies program.

The Backpack Buddies program was developed to help ensure that children in the Bemidji school district have access to nutritious, non-perishable and easy-to-prepare food at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.

The intended results of the program are:
1) children will no longer experience hunger or food insecurities; and,
2) their attendance, behavior, academics, social interaction, health and attention span will improve.

The food packs are discretely distributed to children, as best determined by the school, on the last day before weekends and all scheduled school breaks/holiday breaks.

Thank you to all of our members that participated today and to the United Way for organizing this amazing program!,
