KONBIT Konbit is about people coming together to build communities physically and spiritually. They eat together, work together, and serve each other.

A Konbit is a Haitian event where the communities come together to accomplish a something to benefit one member of that community. In this way they behave much like the church described in Acts. It is in this spirit that we launch Konbit. People can not be placed on a to do list. They are not a project to be completed. Jesus passed time with people in their communities. He walked with, worked alon

gside and conversed with people. The heart of Konbit was born in the heart of God. Jesus shared his purpose on earth as a natural outflow of his relationship with a people He loved. We will do the same and share about Jesus in the same way. Our friends meet him because we live Him and we love Him in front of them.

The heartbeat of Konbit is to work with Haitians to develop communities spiritually and physically. We do not dictate to Haitians what is being done. We work with Haitian friends in communities to decide where we can and should serve. Konbit is Haitians being empowered and equipped to help each other in ways that are already in their hearts. We want to facilitate those opportunities and live life in community with our Haitian friends. We want to love Jesus and love Haiti together.

Today, on May 18th, we commemorate the day that our beautiful flag was first sewn and created. The Haitian flag holds a special place in our hearts as it symbolizes the struggle, sacrifice, and resilience of our ancestors who fought for Haiti's independence. The flag was created by seamstress Catherine Flon and designed by General Jean-Jacques Dessalines in 1803.

In Haiti, this is celebrated on May 31st, but in the US and Jamaica, Mother's are honored today.

We see you, Mamas of all kinds. Physical moms, spiritual moms, auntie moms, teacher moms, on and on and on. Thanks for seeing in us what maybe only you and God see. What we can be. Then, thank you for helping us to become just that.

We love you.

Happy Mother's Day!

Psalm 61:1-3
"O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer!
From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help
when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge,
a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me."

I knew her as Susan. She owned the bar at the roundabout in J-Town, and we held MANY events in the field across from it. She would allow us to use her power, and she had a kind and enjoyably witty presence. She had battled lupus for many years, and last week she passed away after many weeks in the hospital.

Susan is the sister of our beloved Keisha, who cooks for teams, led the hurricane relief, and runs the homework center. Susan's dear friend, Speedy, makes the jerk chicken for our teams, and Susan's son, Tyler, is a regular at ALL our events. Susan's precious mom, Marie, is a dear friend of KONBIT Jamaica. Our love goes out to Marie, Keisha, Speedy, Jolene, Sari, Kevin, Tashara, "Chop, Chop", Alex, Gregory and the rest of the family. We love you all very much. We are holding the memory of Susan close as we pray for you all.

Would you join us in prayer for the whole Israel family and especially Tyler?

Psalm 143:7 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

UPDATE!
We wanted to say a huge thank you to our donors who met these needs so we could be the hands of Jesus extended to these two. The young man has even been able to receive follow up care for his eyes which are still struggleing to recover from the accident. We will continue to walk with him. Valcimene is back in Meals on 2 Wheels and receives her food as well as community, oversight, and more. Becasue of donors we can continue to walk with her!

OLD POST: We have 2 immediate financial needs in we have 2 immediate financial needs in Ha to share.

1. A young man close ot heart of KONBIT has been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. It was so severe that the other driver tragically did not survive. This young man is 18 and has been relying on KONBIT for years in the absence of loving parents. He needs X-rays, blood work, and more. Without funding, he will be hospitalized without care. They WILL NOT do the tests until they are paid. He needs $300 to cover all the items, which include an X-ray of his skull. Please pray for him.

2. One member of Meals on 2 Wheels moved away from us when the gangs took over Lafferonnay last February. Family 2 hours away had taken on her care. She was recently returned when the other family members could no longer help her. She has returned to Lafferonnay and desperately needs to be back in the program, getting food, water, and medical assistance once again. Placing her back in the program requires a commitment of $50 a month or $600 for the year.

$900 to protect a life and provide for another life for a year! Thanks so much for reading and praying for the needs, even if you cannot help. Would you share with friends too, so we can get these needs met?

You can donate at our website www.konbittogether.org/donate

Give to the general fund and place "Haiti Need" in the memo.

THANK YOU!!!!!

🙏🏽 Would you pray with us? 🙏

Our teams for the summer of 2026 start hitting the ground in Jamaica in June. God has a plan that is beyond what we could ask or imagine. I have 3 items for you to lift to the LORD.

1. KONBIT - that as a leadership team, we would be prepared in heart, mind, and spirit.

2. PARTNERS - that our Jamaican friends would be blessed beyond reason and that their needs would be met by GOD through this ministry.

3. TEAMS - that our US friends would be full of peace, financially covered, humbly ready to learn, and expecting God to use them.

📖 1 Corinthians 3:8-10 📖
"The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care."

This precious man is a gift to KONBIT and enjoys a place in Meals on 2 Wheels. He loves attending church with Stanley and Kitson every Sunday. He wanted to go but needed help with "Sunday best" clothes so he could enjoy worshipping without feeling self-conscious. Supporting our members, body and soul, is important. Our staff in Haiti went shopping and ensured he had what he needed to attend church and feel the dignity he deserves. We all know that WHAT you wear to church doesn't really matter, because God looks at your heart. That is easy to say when you are not the one feeling embarrassed. He is a proud, kind man, and his Sunday clothes help him to feel confident. Would you pray for him with us? He is growing in Christ and needs us to keep walking with him.

🎁 2 of our dearest friends got a gift this week. 🍗

One of the farmers who received a business grant from KONBIT after the hurricane wanted to give back. They wanted to use what God had blessed them with and bless someone else. They returned to KONBIT two chickens, and one went to this sweet couple. When help is given in a way that ADDS dignity, then the recipients are empowered to do the same.

It's a beautiful cycle of love and care that makes neighbors family and reminds people that it is better to give than to receive.
