Parents and teachers of District 100. For years I have been EXTREMELY involved in the district. As my last 2 get ready to graduate this year and still an owner of a business and of course a home owner, this success of this district is important.

GO LOOK AT THE PROPOSAL of schedules and the results of the district graduation rate.

After some events that have happened, I have stepped way back, and no, I will not step back in :) HOWEVER you all need to get involved.

The tooooooooo manyyyyyy surveys they send out are going to affect the decisions they make for the future of the district and the kids. BUT the biggest problem is they are basing the results on a VERY LOW number people of responding.

Get INVOLVED - Help the admins and board members we need to get rid of silly fillers in the day/week (Northway) - The state sadly has not gotten current on the guidelines of todays world.

My 2 cents, and yes I did share this.

The reason kids are uninterested is they do not see the value. Now we know their brain is mush until that front vortex is closed around 23-25 years of age. They do not know what and why they need it.

By the time kids are sophmores they know if they want to go to college. Imagine a fork in the road. One path of the undecided or college bound kids - they other path is a vocational eduacation while meeting the state standards. Running start -- dual credits already implemented/

How would that look Vocational degrees are 18 months to 2 year programs - Parnter with a local college to bring onsite (THIS IS NOT RUNNING START) want to be a farmer - have them go down a vet tech program or animal science tech program - Marketing social media - have them do that as a vocational program - want to be a barber - then have them take the path of some business vocational to run a business. Landscaper? Plants and science - Want to go in to insurance or relestate? there are courses to prep that. There are so many avenues that can cross over and keep the kids engaged in their education.

GET THEM READY to graduate and provide. That is where this world is going. STOP BEING TRADITIONAL in an untraditional society. COLLEGE is NOT for everyone so we have to get them care and own their education.

We are a proud BLUE COLLAR community - AND we have some amazing kids that want to go on to college and do more.

Want to see a great model of this? Beloit School District -

We have to stop bandaiding the future.

***** ALERT*****
REGARDING THE POLICY for the GRADING AND PROMOTION SYSTEM:
To all of my Belvidere District #100 friends who were actively engaged in the process of helping to change policy regarding the grading and promotion system in 2021, we need your support yet again. Karla Maville has made the decision to put our grading and promotion policy up for revision changing the terminology back to generic pressor language. What this would do is take away the transparency and oversight provided by the current policy which forces discussion and vote in the open during the November board meeting each year.
In essence what this means is the decision to change or modify the grading and promotion system will be put back to the superintendent and experts in the district to make changes to the system behind the scenes, removing transparency and oversight that this community fought very hard to bring as a result of the train wreck that occurred under the previous superintendent and school board at that time.
I will remind you that three of the current sitting board members, Karla Maville, Holly Houk and Jorge Herrera, were all sitting members of the board at the time that allowed the system to go unchecked and our voices to go unheard as they insisted that the "experts" knew what they were doing while our children's educations suffered.
I urge each and every one of you to find a way to attend the next policy meeting on October 12th AND attend the next school board meeting on October 16th!!! Voice your concerns loud and clear that we DO NOT want this policy changed in any way shape or form. We have plenty of district specific policies that do not align with pressor language or with what every other surrounding school district is doing which is Karla's ONLY argument to make this change.
I am happy to discuss further if needed but we need your support in order to keep this from happening

What issues are important to you? What has happened in the past that has had an impact on your student good and bad and who voted for what?

PBG, what current board members that are running voted for PBG to make it part of our curriculum? Who voted to try and keep it?

Who voted to extend the pilot contract to keep the door open to bring it back? (Once it isn’t extended you can’t bring it back from what has been explained)

Who held Dan responsible for the data that was never collected to see how our district was doing?

Who are the new candidates and what is their vision for the district? Did they support the drastic changes? What are they bringing to the table? What are your visions of the district?

Not sure if Sarah is on FB but she has worked for the district for many years? As a Principal how did her schools perform? As someone who brought dual language to the district how is it going? What is the data? What is her current role and how is she doing in that role? What is her position on the direction of the district?

There are very real and different positions. For the educational and mental health of our children we need consistency and accountability. We need to raise the bar and not keep it low. It seems we are headed back in the right direction. Who will you vote for? Who voted for the things that damaged this great district? Who has the backbone to not follow but lead.

As someone who goes to meetings, I have some idea. How about you? Reach out and ask the tough questions respectfully.

Go to their pages and ask!!
