Parents and teachers of District 100. For years I have been EXTREMELY involved in the district. As my last 2 get ready to graduate this year and still an owner of a business and of course a home owner, this success of this district is important.
GO LOOK AT THE PROPOSAL of schedules and the results of the district graduation rate.
After some events that have happened, I have stepped way back, and no, I will not step back in :) HOWEVER you all need to get involved.
The tooooooooo manyyyyyy surveys they send out are going to affect the decisions they make for the future of the district and the kids. BUT the biggest problem is they are basing the results on a VERY LOW number people of responding.
Get INVOLVED - Help the admins and board members we need to get rid of silly fillers in the day/week (Northway) - The state sadly has not gotten current on the guidelines of todays world.
My 2 cents, and yes I did share this.
The reason kids are uninterested is they do not see the value. Now we know their brain is mush until that front vortex is closed around 23-25 years of age. They do not know what and why they need it.
By the time kids are sophmores they know if they want to go to college. Imagine a fork in the road. One path of the undecided or college bound kids - they other path is a vocational eduacation while meeting the state standards. Running start -- dual credits already implemented/
How would that look Vocational degrees are 18 months to 2 year programs - Parnter with a local college to bring onsite (THIS IS NOT RUNNING START) want to be a farmer - have them go down a vet tech program or animal science tech program - Marketing social media - have them do that as a vocational program - want to be a barber - then have them take the path of some business vocational to run a business. Landscaper? Plants and science - Want to go in to insurance or relestate? there are courses to prep that. There are so many avenues that can cross over and keep the kids engaged in their education.
GET THEM READY to graduate and provide. That is where this world is going. STOP BEING TRADITIONAL in an untraditional society. COLLEGE is NOT for everyone so we have to get them care and own their education.
We are a proud BLUE COLLAR community - AND we have some amazing kids that want to go on to college and do more.
Want to see a great model of this? Beloit School District -
We have to stop bandaiding the future.
