For almost 50 years, PIRE scientists, evaluators, and staff have conducted basic and applied health research supported by grant- and contract-funded projects, creating a longstanding reputation for research integrity and the application of science for the public good. The work of PIRE is supported by National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other federal grants, federal contracts, state and local grants and contracts, and foundation awards. PIRE has served as the prime contractor on multimillion dollar projects with the Department of Defense, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and Veterans Health Administration.
