Troop 194 attended the Southern Service Area camporee at Camp Tahuya in Belton, TX this weekend. The theme was Viking Adventures.

At the closing ceremony Sunday Morning, there was a special surprise speaker U.S. Congressman Phil Sessions. He had a very nice speech with a great line it that we are going to emphasize to our Scouts, “There are so many great things that make this a Great Country and you are one of them”!

Afterwards, Congressman Sessions took a few minutes to speak to and take photos with Our Troop. We are grateful for the time he took for Our Scouts.

Congressman Sessions is an Eagle Scout with a couple of his sons also being Eagle Scouts. Additionally the Congressman told us he was a Scoutmaster before and had a heart for Scouting!

Thanks again Congressman Sessions!

Sacrifice is sometimes what it takes to better yourself. Most kids, including this one look forward to a week off of school for spring break. Getting to sleep in late, unlimited video games and snacks and hanging out with friends.

But this year for Spring Break, Coop will be attending National Youth Leadership Training as Sid Richardson Scout Ranch.

Not knowing any of the other 49 Scouts I hope he makes some good friends that will carry past the week. I hope in the long run the getting up early and working on course work all week will make him not only a better Scout but a better young man and citizen.

It was definitely not his first choice of things to do over his spring break, but he will understand later in life this was a sacrifice of time for knowledge!

Do good Coop and make Troop 184 proud!!

The early morning sunrise on the island at Sid Richardson Scout camp is beautiful and peaceful.

Camp kitchens all set up ready for boys to continue to thrive in the quest to fill their bellies with better food every time they campout. This will be a lifelong lesson that they will use as they grow into adulthood and have families of their own someday.

The adults are always experimenting with pushing our limits as to what can you prepare for sustance! Coffee out of a French Press on the brisk 55 degree morning knowing boys will soon be up enjoying God’s natural gift to us without the electronic distractions all day long makes us happy!

If you have a son, grandson etc.. that is between 10-18 years old that would like try this adventure, message us for more information! We are a small Wise County Troop that would love to take you on a journey with us! We meet in Paradise at the United Methodist Church, Monday nights at 7 pm. Of course adults are welcome to join with your youth as well so you witness their growth before your very eyes!

Please tag people you feel would benefit from this experience and share our post to help us reach out to others! We will update this post with more photos from the weekend in the comments!
