In November 2008, athlete and trainer Lance Darling met Jacob Bamesberger, a high energy always-happy kid he couldn't help but love. Lance soon learned Jacob had chronic ITP, an auto-immune bleeding disorder in which the immune system destroys platelets necessary for normal blood clotting. Lance knew Jacob played sports, but it was hard for him to imagine a child having to worry about life-threate

ning bumps and bruises, instead of running and playing, care free, like most kids. Inspired by Jacob's daily struggles with ITP and working with his parents, Brian and Kenda, Lance leads Peak Performance, an annual fitness fundraiser for the fight against ITP. Last year, with a team of doctors & nurses monitoring his workout, Lance ran 52.5 miles, the equivalent of more than two marathons, and completed 24,000 reps with 6-minute breaks each hour....for a record-breaking 30 hours. In addition to Lance's marathon workout, Peak Performance athletic events include a "swim-raiser" and a 5K fun run. Peak Performance raised invaluable awareness about chronic ITP and over $80,000 for PDSA in 2011.
