The Belton Historical Society Museum is located in the Old City Hall building at 512 Main Street, Belton, MO. These meetings are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

The museum is open
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4pm
Saturday from 10am-1pm
Open March through December

General membership meetings are held the 4th Sunday of January, April, July & October.

Sun., Oct 25, at 2:30 p.m. is general meeting of Belton Historical Society. The slate of officers was published in the October newsletter. Mary Cummings and Rob Powell have been nominated for president.
There will be presentation on bed turning. Refreshments will be served. Public is invited.
Only members in good standing can vote in election.

Sunday, October 25 is general meeting for Belton Historical society. Meeting is at 2:30 p.m.in the theater behind museum.
Program will be video on bed turning/quilt display.
Voting for slate of officers and board of directors also occurs.
Refreshments served. Hope to see you.
Public is welcome.

Quilt Bed Turning: The Belton Historical Sociey presents a Bed Turning program from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, at Random’s Coffee, 406 Main Street, Belton. At this traditional event, more than a dozen quilts of historical significance or artistic merit will be displayed. The quilts will be placed on a bed in the center of the coffee shop, and each will be turned back slowly by volunteers while a host discusses its details. The quilts will be from the area. This event is open to the public and free. Random’s will sell coffee and other beverages at its regular prices during the event. Then, at the society’s next general meeting at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 25, a video of the Bed Turning will be shown to recap the event, and a few of the quilts will be on display.

This was a huge day for the Belton Historical Society! An ice cream social, The East Creek Girls, and State Senator Ed Emory donated a flag that flew over our State Capitol building and our local Boy Scouts had a flag raising ceremony! All in one afternoon!

Our quarterly meeting is always open to the public! Join us! Sunday, July 26th, at Main Street Theater (behind the museum) 2:30 pm. Meet our Scholarship recipients, too!

To Society members: there was a glitch in our newsletter address list! Some folks will receive an extra newsletter per household. Some will have addresses corrected with handwritten addresses. The late Norma Nelson and Pam Powell had children visit the museum and listen to stories about the “olden days”. We built log cabins with Lincoln Logs.

Belton Super Sleuths! The first photo shows more of the house, the second photo is closer to see details on the faces. Who are these people? And from Board President, Pam Powell, an Ohio native: “I loved to comb my Grandfather’s hair! And here is a girl in Missouri just like me”.
