🌺 Latina Leaders: Voices That Inspire 🌺
Today we recognize Cinthia Téllez Silva, a woman whose journey reflects perseverance, service, and a deep belief that our communities should be places where everyone has access to opportunity, health, and a better quality of life.
Her story is deeply connected to Wisconsin. After coming from Mexico at a young age, her family spent time in Beloit before eventually settling in Janesville, where Cinthia grew up and began building the path that would later lead her into community health, urban planning, and community development.
Throughout her career, Cinthia has worked directly with Latino families, youth, and community organizations, helping connect people with information, healthy spaces, and opportunities that may otherwise be difficult to access because of language or other barriers.
Her own experiences helped her understand early on how important it is to have people who can explain systems, build connections, and make sure communities have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.
Over time, that vision led her into the field of urban planning. Today, Cinthia works as a Community Planner with Michael Baker International, bringing her community-based experience into projects focused on how cities grow, connect, and serve the people who live in them.
Cinthia also continues using her voice to improve transportation access and strengthen community participation as Co-Chair of Transit is Milwaukee, while also serving with organizations and boards throughout the Milwaukee area.
Her story was also selected to be part of “Immigrant Journeys From South of the Border,” a Wisconsin Humanities project where she shared her experience and reflected on the important role mentors and community support played in her own journey.
Today we celebrate Cinthia Téllez Silva as part of “Latina Leaders: Voices That Inspire” for showing us that our experiences can become powerful tools for transforming systems, creating opportunities, and building communities where more people can thrive. 💜
Thank you, Cinthia, for using your experience, education, and voice to help create communities that are more connected, healthy, and accessible.
