Q: What is the BSEAC? A: The Belmont Special Education Advisory Council (BSEAC) is Belmont’s special education parent advisory council (SEPAC), mandated by Massachusetts state law. We are family members of children with disabilities who educate each other, collaborate with school professionals, and exchange ideas and information. ow can I participate in the BSEAC? A: Just let us know who you are and what you need. We are a volunteer run organization. We welcome sharing of ideas and contributions of your time and talents. Q: What does the BSEAC do? A: We advocate for a quality education for all students, advise the Belmont school administration and school committee on special education issues via regular meetings, assist families to effectively participate in the special education process by hosting monthly parent information sessions, communicating via our listserve and website, and providing a resource library at Chenery Middle School, and acknowledge school professionals and community members in their efforts to support our children with the annual Appreciation Awards Ceremony. Here is the flow:
6:30pm - Parent Mingle

8:30pm - Discussion about other after school programs and need for them in our community

8:45pm - End (We have to be out of the building at 8:45)


Where: Burbank Elementary School (our host school for 2018/2019 school year) in the Cafeteria, 266 School Street, Belmont MA 02478. Entrance to the cafeteria is on the side of building by the parking lot.

Topic: Therapeutic After School Program

Liz Levarity, Program Director for the “Therapeutic After School Program” T.A.S.P. located at Walker-Beacon High School in Watertown will talk with parents about this program. Parents can come find out how to apply for the program, learn how the program works, and ask any questions about how their child might fit in the program.

Parents with children in elementary and middle school whose child needs a therapeutic level support for their child in an after school setting are encouraged to attend. After the discussion with TASP at Walker-Beacon, parents who are in attendance will continue the discussion about other after school programs and the need in our community for therapeutic after school programs.
