A 501(c)(3) that provides free, expert legal aid to immigrants seeking humanitarian-based visas.

WHO ARE OUR NEIGHBORS?

• A young couple fleeing violence and political upheaval
• An abused woman whose husband, a U.S. citizen, threatens with deportation and separation from her children
• A father seeking to bring his wife and children out of a drought-stricken country
• An unaccompanied minor who “aged-out” of the system before receiving a decision on her case
• A disillusioned man whose hard-earned money has gone to pay for faulty legal advice from those who take advantage of immigrants
• Victims of human trafficking

WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS DO
Intake workers are the clients' first contact and gather the necessary information to determine the clients' situations
Interpreters assist with translation for those volunteers and clients who need help communicating
Volunteer attorneys receive training in immigration law and do initial assessments as well as follow-up visits with clients
Hospitality workers help with refreshments, provide child care, and greet clients
Case managers review files, make telephone calls, and collect documents to prepare cases for review by the supervising attorney.

Pathway to Hope’s federal funding ended in July. The 127 clients’ cases under this program are now supported entirely by fundraising. “Mariana” is one of these clients.

Currently a 20-year-old high school senior, Mariana made the dangerous journey from Guatemala to the United States by herself in 2024 at age 17. Abandoned by her father when she was 3 years old, she and her mother lived at a subsistence level, surviving on tortillas with salt after a spinal surgery left her mother disabled and unable to work.

Mariana became a client in our Pathway to Hope program shortly after her arrival, received her Special Immigrant Juvenile status this past October, and is now awaiting approval of her work authorization. Due to a long wait list, she will likely receive a visa in 2030. In the meantime, she is thriving in high school and hoping to become a criminologist.

Every immigrant deserves to be represented by a knowledgeable attorney - especially children. With our recent loss of federal funding, we are more reliant on donors like you to continue serving all of our existing clients and new ones, too.

Our 2026 Fall Fundraiser is Underway

New England JFON has experienced consistent growth for the past five years, including two new initiatives this year. However, this has been despite extreme uncertainty in our federal funding, which has now ended permanently. As we look to the future, we will need to fill a significant funding gap to replace that revenue and to accommodate the increasing complexity of every case in this era of constantly-tightening immigration policies.

In these especially difficult times, New England JFON remains committed to our important work of helping our immigrant neighbors find justice and hope. Thank you to our supporters who have already joined the fundraiser. There's still time! Donate now to help us reach our $15,000 goal.

Thank you to Massachusetts and Rhode Island punk trio Sapling for donating all proceeds of their new single, “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service,” to New England JFON.

As band member Rainy explains, “Over the past couple of years we've been releasing music mostly as singles rather than longer releases and there's always something insane going on in the world that we feel pretty powerless about… Just trying to support organizations doing important work and to not feel completely powerless in this absolutely insane timeline.” Past recipients have included abortion support organizations and food banks. “In this moment, it felt best to focus on an organization helping people who are being the most directly targeted by, well, a lot. The government. ICE. MAGA…”

The song has already resulted in almost $200 for New England JFON, and all additional proceeds will also be donated to us. On Friday, October 2, 100% of purchases will go directly to us, with no platform fees. Links to the song and music video can be found in the comments.

Mark your calendars for Manos Indocumentados, a benefit concert for New England JFON!

At 7 PM on October 28th, The Immigration Task Force of the New York Annual Conference (United Methodist Church) will present Manos Indocumentadas, a concert to benefit three immigrant-serving organizations in New England and New York State, including New England JFON.

The Spanish-language piece for choir and chamber orchestra will take place in New Haven, CT but will also be livestreamed. (More information forthcoming.)
