Promise for Haiti

Promise for Haiti Working to serve all people in Central Haiti in the name of Jesus since 1981. Guy often saw children die from treatable illnesses but there was no doctor.

Our History is about a promise made and a promise kept:

As the seventh of nine children born to a lay Baptist minister in Haiti, young Guy Theodore would often go with his father by donkey to visit the sick and dying people around Pignon. His father would pray with the sick and dispense medication purchased with his own money. Young Guy asked his father if he could ever become a doctor. His fathe

r told him it was possible with the Lord’s help and blessing. So there, in the mountains, they got down off their donkey and Guy prayed aloud asking that the Lord would give him the wisdom and intelligence to become a doctor and promising that he would come back to Pignon and help the sick and dying if God would provide a way. “Wherever I am, I will come back to Pignon and do Your work.”

God answered that prayer in amazing ways and Guy was able to attend school in Port au Prince and complete a surgical residency in New York City. He was about to invest in a new home and set up an already successful practice when in a dream, he was reminded of the promise he made to return to Haiti. “Guy, have you forgotten your promise to the Lord?” He saw the hollow eyes of dying children and knew he must return to Pignon. He had to honor his promise to the Lord and to his father. The dream became a reality when Guy founded Christian Mission of Pignon (now called Promise for Haiti) and seven years later Hospital Bienfaisance was built on the site where Dr. Guy was born. This hospital not only provides medical care, but brings hope for the entire region. When you support Promise for Haiti, you are supporting a promise made and a promise kept that has truly made life changing differences to the 145,000 people who live in the north and central plateau of Haiti. Under Dr. Guy Theodore's leadership and with the help of hundreds of volunteers and supporters, this vision has become a reality. The Comite Bienfaisance de Pignon (CBP), a locally elected committee of community leaders, presides over the mission, defining its vision and setting direction that is realized in its programs and projects. There is now a 65 bed hospital and six clinics, including an extensive public health program. The entire region around Pignon has been blessed by the realization of this vision and you can keep the dream alive by supporting Promise for Haiti! Please help a "promise made" continue to be "a promise kept".

Today on Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join us in sharing the love of Jesus Christ
through healing and hope in Haiti.
At Hospital Bienfaisance in Pignon, our doors never close, and no one is ever turned
away. Every day, men, women, and children arrive seeking care, often walking for
miles from the northern Central Plateau. Some come with emergencies, others with
chronic illness, but all are welcomed with compassion.
Hospital Bienfaisance is a modern 65-bed hospital, equipped with two operating
rooms, a full laboratory, endoscopy, x-ray, and pharmacy. Beyond providing care, it
also trains local Haitian doctors, nurses, and specialists, investing in the next
generation of caregivers who will bring healing to their communities. Yet this vital
work can only continue with your help.
Promise for Haiti subsidizes care for those who cannot afford treatment in full, and
your Giving Tuesday gift ensures that lifesaving services continue for the poor and
underserved. Every gift, large or small, makes a difference. Together, we can
demonstrate Christ’s love through compassionate healthcare for all.
Today, "Giving Tuesday", would you prayerfully consider donating to Promise for
Haiti? More than ever before the people of Haiti need your generous gifts.

Congratulations to the Hospital Bienfaisance of Pignon! This week the new Pediatric Wing was opened. Over the coming months we will be shipping equipment for pediatric care funded by Promise for Haiti and the Rotary Foundation! Thanks to all those involved which has answered so many Prayers!

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. Ephesians 2:19-22
