MACC is now taking nominations for our 2027 Environmental Service Awards! Each year, MACC presents Environmental Service Awards honoring those who have made outstanding contributions toward environmental awareness and resource protection in Massachusetts. We have celebrated the contributions of over 285 individuals since 1981!

Award winners will be honored at our 2027 Annual Environmental Conference on Saturday, March 6, 2027 in Worcester, MA. Nominate your peers and mentors today!

THIS WEEKEND! MACC is excited to host another offering of the sold-out Wetland & Shrub Identification Field Class at Grassy Pond this Saturday, October 3! Instructor Katie Hutchens will lead a walk and discussion about native New England shrubs, how to identify them, and their relationships to their surrounding ecosystems.

We’ll take a look at 16 - 20 native New England shrubs, ranging from obligate wetland species to those which prefer the higher, drier upland areas. The class will focus on shrub identification as well as some fun and interesting natural history, and hopefully even wildlife!

Instructor Michele Grzenda will walk us through commissioners' key responsibilities, appeals and enforcement, building productive relationships with local boards and state/federal agencies, and funding and fees.
