Watch and Share this powerful short film blending spoken word poetry with the daily reality of snakebite - a reality young poet Envoi Vates of Nigeria voices from experience. TODAY is International Awareness Day for Avoidable Deaths! Snake bites are not only avoidable, but preventable and through education in communities, we can reduce death and disability. Today is World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day! Snakebite is 1 of 21 NTD’s affecting 1 billion+ of the most vulnerable worldwide, yet a lack of global funding for cost-effective snakebite interventions on the ground makes snakebite further neglected.

GSI's mission is to educate communities on preventing snakebites, improve treatments and ensure health workers are skilled to confidently treat these critical emergencies.

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT ON THIS GIVING TUESDAY! Every donation to GSI-USA will be matched by Tito’s Handmade Vodka – up to $1 million!

In India, 58,000 souls lose their lives each year and well over 100,000 more lose limbs, are disfigured and suffer mental health trauma. The global toll of death and disability throughout sub-Saharan Africa, south and southeast Asia, Latin America and Oceania is around 550,000 people annually.

This is often an avoidable accident that can be prevented with simple awareness and changes to habits and daily practices. The way to prevent these deaths is community education–it’s simple, cost effective, and impactful.

GSI and the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust/Centre for Herpetology have teamed up to bring 2,500 prevention awareness programs to schools and villages in 12 states of India! This massive campaign will also provide 500 gumboots and prevention kits to at-risk agricultural workers!

This , will you kindly make a donation to support the education people need around the world to prevent the continued death and devastation wrought by snakebites?
