On an island in Zambia’s Bangweulu wetlands, families spend most of the year in small fishing camps. But lately, the nets have come up light, and the soil has grown tired.

Project 61 helped families on Ncheta Island start home gardens—so they can put food back on the table and pass on the skills to their kids.

It’s practical. It’s sustainable. And it’s hope that grows right at home.

It’s here 🎉 A 16-year vision realized in the quiet highlands of Comalapa, Guatemala.

The Hero School, built from recycled tires, glass bottles, and plastic waste — has officially completed its one-of-a-kind campus.

This is more than a school. It’s a place where students’ education creates change for their own neighbors.

Through Project 63 and our partnership with Long Way Home your giving helped students build practical solutions: smoke-efficient stoves, clean water tanks, composting latrines, and tire retaining walls for families in need.

Thanks to your generosity, the final classroom stands ready to welcome students for years to come. A space that will inspire learning, leadership, and a heart for serving others.

Mite’s Giving Community helped bring a 16-year vision to life! The Hero School, affectionately known as the tire school, now has its campus fully complete. We were there for the inauguration of the final classroom, where colorful balloons and a sign reading “Gracias Mite” filled our hearts with joy.

It’s time to celebrate! See a 16-year journey come full circle tomorrow Tuesday, August 26th.

Sara’s joy says it all. Alongside her 7th-grade classmates, she helped build smoke-efficient stoves for families in their own backyard of Comalapa, Guatemala.

Before, these families cooked over open fires indoors—filling their homes with smoke and leading to serious respiratory issues. Now, because of these bright students, cooking is safer and healthier.

See the full story of this incredible school and its students creating sustainable change in Guatemala on Tuesday, August 26th.

Green building isn’t a trend—it’s ancient.

High in Guatemala, LONG WAY HOME “tire school” is built with 25,000 recycled tires. Students pack plastic bottles into earthquake-flexible walls, mold mud into smoke-efficient stoves, and stack tires into retaining walls.

Because of you, Project 63’s Hero Students are strengthening their communities and learning to serve with skill and joy. 💛
