This afternoon, a VERY generous young lady and her family made the choice to donate earnings from her National Ice Cream Day fundraiser to us! We were honored to stop by and grab some ice cream, although we had to cut it short for a call! Thank you to the Bock family!!

Update on our recent calls for service:
Saturday (7/18), we were dispatched to assist the Clarion Fire Department for a house fire east of Clarion. Clarion fire had the fire extinguished before we arrived, and we assisted with overhaul operations.
Sunday (7/19), we were dispatched for a grass fire south of Belmond. A big thank you to Spray48s assistance on scene with the voluntary air support!

Wow, what an incredible turnout! 🙌

We are absolutely thrilled to share that we served 775 people at this year’s annual Omelette Breakfast Fundraiser! 🍳✨

Thanks to your incredible generosity—alongside the vital support of the city, rural boards, our Fire Department Foundation, and local funding entities—all profits will go directly toward purchasing 20 new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) units to completely update our current equipment and keep our team safe. 👨‍🚒🚒

We cannot thank this amazing community enough for your continued support. You always show up for us when it counts! 🙏

But right now, we want to share where we could really use our community’s help the most.

We need people. 🛑

We’re incredibly fortunate to have great equipment, thanks in large part to the tremendous generosity of this community over the years. Fundraising and donations are vital to keeping our department equipped and ready, and you all have stepped up at every single turn. THANK YOU. But our biggest need right now is more volunteers.

đźš’ The Reality:

We respond to 60–70 calls a year—ranging from structure fires and car accidents to grass fires and alarms. We especially need individuals who might be available during daytime hours, but we welcome help at any time of day or night.

🧑‍🚒 You Don't Have to Do It All:

Volunteering doesn’t mean you have to be the first person through the door of a burning building! We need a full team to pull hose, prep tools, secure accident scenes, and support the crew in many different, crucial ways. There is a role for everyone.

đź“… The Commitment:

• Two Monday nights a month for meetings/drills.

• Firefighter I training during your first year.

We can have all the trucks, tools, and advanced equipment in the world—but we still need dedicated neighbors to operate them!

If you’ve ever thought about joining the Belmond Fire Department, come talk to us. We’d be happy to answer your questions and show you what it truly means to serve. 💬

This months training involved heavy rescue and extrication. Firefighters used the jaws, cutters and air bags to train on proper use and techniques. We also worked closely with the Belmond EMS. Special thanks to Tom Wollner (MCFD trainer), Belmond EMS, and Cody Bonstetter towing.

Earlier this year, we were able to purchase a new Polaris Ranger as a second wildland vehicle. This ranger is equipped with an 80 gallon QTAC skid unit with hose reel, and the capability of transporting a patient with a backboard from remote locations if needed. A trailer was also purchased for rapid transport when called.
Funding for this was received from the Foster and Evelyn Barkema Chartiable Trust, Syngenta, and Belmond Firefighters Foundation.
Belmond firefighters installed the lighting and radio equipment.
