Dear friend,

Greetings from EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin, where we are celebrating being voted Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction in the World Travel Awards. It is our third year to be awarded this title and we are delighted to have it stay in Dublin.

Thank you for your support.

When you bought your tickets, booked an online workshop, downloaded any of our educational resources or left a review for us, you gave us a vote of confidence to continue telling the stories of the influence of people from Ireland on the world.

We are very grateful to you and to everyone wishing us well today, online and in person.

The World Travel Awards are among the most prestigious travel awards, and this year they are celebrating their 28th anniversary. EPIC is the first tourist attraction in the Award's history to be voted as Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction three years in a row.

This Award is testament to the resilience, creativity and commitment of all our staff to providing a world class experience. Being recognised by our visitors, neighbours and stakeholders in voting for us to win this title is a boost in the times we are in and for Irish tourism. We continue to honour the diaspora abroad and recognise the vital contributions that Irish people have made worldwide.

We look forward to welcoming you, your friends and families back to our Museum for a visit.

Kind Regards,

J. Patrick Greene,
CEO and Museum Director.

Halfway to St. Patrick's Day finds its roots in "Arthur Guinness Day" or "Arthur's Day," which celebrates that patron saint of beer, Arthur Guinness himself. In Europe, Asia, the US, and elsewhere, people raise there glasses at 5:59 PM on September 22nd to salute the man, the beer, and the fact that we are halfway to our favorite celebration of Irish customs, food, and drink!

Events take place all over the globe from the 17th to the 22nd, so you don’t have to choose when to celebrate. Grab a pint, put on the Irish music, and bask in the green glow of the season!

Appropriately, it was at this half way point in the year that Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000 year lease in 1759 to brew his beer at St. James Gate Brewery in Dublin. His brew has raised spirits and improved opinions of the Irish worldwide ever since.

We are half way to St Patrick’s Day. Come celebrate.

Quinnipiac University is working on plans to move Ireland’s Great Hunger Museum collection elsewhere - or, as most see it, to break it up, which would be a real tragedy.
