I'm very pleased to announce that Vincent Russo has been in the process of pursuing the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America, the prestigious Eagle Scout Award. Vincent participated in 4 of our beach cleanups this summer and won our July 13th photo contest. An Eagle Scout shows character by his โactionsโ and true to form, Vincent chose to donate his prize. In Vincent's honor, our grassroots movement made a $50 donation to the Belmar First Aid.
Vincent said it's been a struggle to find qualifying activities during Covid and I'm SO PSYCHED our grassroots movement provided an opportunity for him to earn these hours! (I have several Eagle Scouts in my family! This is a big deal!)
The Belmar First Aid was the perfect recipient for a "Pay it Forward" award. These folks are genuine public servants and the summer of 2020 is testament to their awesome work. The Belmar First Aid's blend of volunteer and paid staff is on call 24/7. Serving both Belmar and Lake Como, the Belmar First Aid deeply appreciates the generosity of our community. Big donations are GREAT but small donations add up so please don't feel shy to make a small donation! (serious donation inspiration right here! > https://nj1015.com/at-belmar-beach-8-year-old-pulled-from-8-foot-sand-hole-collapse/)
One more shout out to Cheri Russo who participated in EVERY beach cleanup this summer! Thanks so much Cheri! It was so fun meeting and getting to know you during our trash walks! ๐
Sunsets are getting EARLY (yikes!) which throws a monkey wrench in our weekday/evening cleanups...I'm figuring out next steps for our movement so please stay tuned. In the meantime, THANK YOU to everyone who participated by joining us on the beach or simply cheering us along on social media! So many beach goers approached us with curiosity this summer and were delighted to learn that we were just random citizens trying to do some good in our community! Thanks for helping create a ripple effect of mindfulness and kindness in Belmar!
