Stage 33 Live

Stage 33 Live Stage 33 Live is a 40-seat listening room that documents live performances and presentations. It’s about honoring the stage. That one thing. That’s not us.

Stage 33 Live is a welcoming, casual, scrappy (but well-mannered) nonprofit listening room in an industrial-rustic former factory with 40 folding chairs, run by chipper upstart adult volunteers on an island in the rural Vermont village of Bellows Falls on the Connecticut River bordering New Hampshire. Only original material written by the performers themselves is allowed. The room has mostly defin

ed itself as an acoustic folk/Americana singer-songwriter place, but we run jazz, pop, spoken word, rock, and more. Best way to be in the loop about what and when things are happening is to sign up for the email newsletter. Imagine a state-of-the-art, million-dollar performance center… got it? We’re also not a bar, club, or restaurant. But we’re not savages either – there’s coffee, soda, water, and snacks by donation. So many details: www.stage33live.com

Burlington loses another small venue.

The closure is part of a recent trend that includes Arts Riot and Nectar’s, leaving a hole in the Queen City’s music scene.

Michael Hahn started playing out during the Summer of Love, 1967, at the age of 14. Over the decades he's performed with acclaimed dance bands including Hornbeam, Don’t Call Betty, Hoochie Lombardo, Whetstone, and Ten Mile Shuffle Band. Having hit 70 years old, he still performs every couple weeks with either his trio or his five-piece band. He's bringing the trio for this show. Along with Michael, there's Sid Gulick on guitar and vocal, and John Pheiffer on cello.

James Graham got started in the "anti-folk" scene that sprang up in the East Village of NYC around 1990 as a response to the West Village folk scene that no longer seemed relevant in a world ravaged by the politics of Reagan and Thatcher, and seemingly given up on racial justice. In 2004 he moved to New Hampshire and resisted the pull of bluegrass and old-timey Americana, staying true to his rock, soul, reggae, and punk influences — music seeking to make sense out of the complicated human condition while creating sounds that move the spirit.

Michael Hahn Trio and James Graham split the bill in a 3:00 matinee on September 13, 2026. Tickets are a generously discounted $10 in advance through stage33live.com, or $15 at the door as available. Advance tickets guarantee entry. Only 40 tickets will be sold.

Full videos of Phil Henry's late-June set start going up a week from today, on September 7, one per day in performance order at www.stage33live.com/binge and www.youtube.com/stage33live ... If you want to be alerted when we post new clips, subscribe to our YouTube channel and click the bell icon when you do because if you don't, you won't get the alerts. Thanks for your diligence. Phil Henry is a singer-songwriter steeped in folk tradition, but not bound by it. No carbon-copy of popular songs or folk radio, his art is an expression of individuality and craftsmanship. Breaking excitement courtesy Ray's the Roof Productions: At tomorrow's Stage 33 Live matinee, we'll be giving away a pair of tickets to An Evening with Suzy Bogguss happening on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 at the Bellows Falls Opera House.

Suzy Bogguss. She was the first featured female performer at Silver Dollar City, later known as Dollywood. (RIP dear Dolly.) Not much later, six Top 10 hits, three gold albums, and a platinum. Over four million albums sold. She won Top New Female Vocalist from the Academy of Country Music, and Album of the Year awards from that outfit. The Horizon Award from the Country Music Association. A Grammy, then another one, then another one. She's also landed on the jazz charts, and wears her folk roots with pride... she was a frequent guest performer on A Prairie Home Companion. She was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry this past January. There's just piles of achievements and accolades.

We're not quite sure how we'll give this pair of tickets away, we'll figure it out. But you gotta be at tomorrow's pay-what-you-want show to win.
