As EMS Week comes to an end, we’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate some of our members’ achievements.

Over the last few months, our members have:

🚑 Responded to 550+ calls for service
🚑 Accepted and onboarded over 10 new members, with additional applicants currently in process
🚑 Provided standby coverage and mutual aid support alongside neighboring agencies and community partners, including parade coverage for the Wantagh Fire Department, regional sporting events, ECG screenings with Mount Sinai South Nassau in Massapequa, and standbys for Point Lookout-Lido FD
🚑 Assisted with community education initiatives, including a bleeding control presentation and hands-on skills demonstration for Mepham staff led by members teaching their former teachers

We are also proud of the accomplishments achieved by our members in recent months, including:
🩺 8+ members clearing as EMTs and Drivers, along with 10+ Observer clearances
🚦 5 members becoming certified EVOC instructors
🎓 5 collegiate graduates and many students returning home from college

None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers and paid staff who continue serving the Bellmore-Merrick community day and night.

At Bellmore-Merrick EMS, our members continue to support, mentor, and push one another to grow, both on and off the ambulance, and we are proud of everything they continue to accomplish together.

From Sunday 2/22 through Monday 2/23, Bellmore-Merrick EMS activated a snow standby as more than 20 inches of snow fell across our district.
During the storm, 36 members staffed headquarters to ensure uninterrupted coverage. Crews responded to 11 emergency calls and cared for 14 patients, including several critical incidents, while operating in challenging winter conditions.
Between calls, members maintained both readiness and morale by training, supporting newer providers, and keeping response routes clear.
Thank you to our members who committed their time to the standby and to our community for your cooperation during the storm. We hope everyone stayed safe.

During the 24-hour period, many of our dedicated members reported in to ensure our community had the support it needed throughout the storm. Despite challenging conditions, we remained committed to providing the high level of care our community relies on. We are grateful to all the members who stepped up to run calls. We hope everyone in our community stayed safe, warm, and well during the storm.
