Film Is Truth 24 Times a Second will be closing permanently as of April 19th, 2022.
Film Is Truth began almost 25 years ago as an alternative to the model employed by most every other video store at the time. The focus was on maintaining a collection that created access to independent, Q***r, documentary, and any other types of cinema one couldn't find anywhere else. It is truly a testament to Bellingham's community that such a small local business has been able to live for so long.
We could not be more proud and grateful for our time serving the community. We've watched kids grow up in these walls, employees go on to do great things in the world, and beloved customers who passed away entrust us with their own video collections. Film Is Truth has meant so many different things to so many different people, and we feel lucky to have been a part of that.
We will not be breaking up or selling off our collection. Keeping with our mission, we will be donating it to another non-profit with the intention of it continuing to be accessible for community use after a period of hibernation. There will be more news about this new venture in the future so stay tuned. In the meantime, we still have hundreds of DVDs and VHS in back stock that we will be selling off, so please come by the store and take something with you, or just to say hello and goodbye.
We want to thank everybody who has ever been a part of Film Is Truth, Karl and Emily who started it, all the employees and board members and volunteers, and all the customers who have been with us across six locations.
