The fight to save a wave is the reason there’s a Surfrider Foundation to begin with. From Trestles to Tres Palmas, from Montauk to Mā’alaea, the Surfrider Foundation has protected some of America’s best surf spots over the last forty years.

During this season of celebration, we’re reflecting on some of the awesome feats we’ve accomplished together! See the year in wrap🌟 LINK IN BIO🌟🌊

Two big wins that Make Takeout Better for Everyone—Especially the Earth! 🌎
Our dream of a plastic-free future is not a short road.
♻️🍴
It’s going to take many more big victories from bills like “Skip the Stuff” in New York and “AB 1276” in California, both of
which ban restaurants from tossing plastic utensils in takeout bags unless requested.

The sea cucumber Enypniastes, discovered by The Census of Marine Life in the Gulf of Mexico at a depth of 2,750 meters, is a fascinating deep-sea organism adapted to extreme environments. This species uses its tentacles to slowly creep along the ocean floor, moving at approximately 2 centimeters per minute. As it moves, Enypniastes sweeps detritus-rich sediment into its mouth, feeding on organic material that settles in the deep-sea environment.

Washington’s Initiative 2117 is problematic for several reasons, particularly because it seeks to repeal the state’s 2021 Climate Commitment Act (CCA). The CCA is pivotal in capping carbon emissions and funding programs that support environmental protection, clean energy projects, and public health initiatives. By eliminating the CCA, I-2117 would undercut progress on reducing air and water pollution, halt critical funding for clean energy jobs, and jeopardize programs aimed at wildfire resilience, salmon recovery, and electric vehicle infrastructure. Additionally, repealing the act won’t guarantee lower consumer prices, and it benefits polluters at the expense of Washington’s residents .

Voting “No” on I-2117 would ensure continued investment in clean energy and environmental protections that benefit the state long-term.

The International Coastal Cleanup was a huge success! 🌊 Over 30 dedicated volunteers joined forces and removed more than 200 pounds of trash from our shores. Every small effort makes a big impact!

Using grabbers helped with the precision and made the cleanup more efficient, especially for the micro plastics. Thanks so much for collaborating with us ♻️💟♻️
