The Whatcom Skagit Model Railroad Club creates, develops, operates, and maintains public HO and N Scale model railroad displays evocative of the historical relationship of railroads in the development of the Pacific Northwest. d display evocative of the historical relationship of railroads in the development of the Pacific Northwest. also attends and exhibits displays at other public events and conducts seminars about railroads and railroad history. The WSMRRC maintains a library of materials (books, periodicals, and video tapes) about regional railroads and model railroading for use by members and the general public. Members conduct research into the history of railroads in the Pacific Northwest. the HO- and N-scale layouts are housed in the former Alger Grange, adjacent to the Alger Community Church. There is ample free parking in the gravel lot between the WSMRRC building and the church, as well as overflow parking on the surrounding grounds. Please note, however, that during inclement weather, the grounds can become muddy. The building is readily accessible via a covered ramp and restroom facilities are available. Work continues to progress on both our HO- and N-scale layouts. Visitors are welcome on Thursday evenings, at which time we often run trains as well as do regular maintenance and work on many new additions to our layouts. The public is welcome to visit us on Thursday evenings, to watch us build, or even lend a hand. Members are usually present on Thursday evenings from approximately 6:30pm until 10pm. . While our Thursday evening sessions are rather informal, we also hold regular operating sessions, workshops, and open houses. The WSMRC is located approximately 12 miles south of Bellingham, Washington, one mile east of Interstate 5 on the borders of Whatcom and Skagit Counties, approximately 90 miles north of Seattle and 75 miles south of Vancouver, British Columbia. Take I-5 to exit 240. Go east on Lake Samish Road ½ mile. At the stop sign, turn left onto Old Highway 99. The WSMRC is on the right, approximately ¼-mile, adjacent to the Alger Community Church, at 1469 Silver Run Lane, Bellingham, WA 98229.
