What Kind Of Help Is Offered? Typical requests include twenty-five dollars for gas or a WTA bus pass. Larger amounts are “gathered” by the recipient by getting pledges from one or more of the other ministries in Bellingham, eventually accumulating enough to pay for an item such as car registration or a small utility bill.
How Does It Work? Once a week, prospective recipients come to BUF for a face-to-face interview process. A person may only apply once a year. Funds are dispersed via a system of inter-church Pledges, Vouchers, or Checks sent directly to billing agencies. Recipients are never given cash.
