Behind every successful business is a moment when someone decided to take the next step.

For some, that step is purchasing equipment.
For others, it's setting up an office, upgrading technology, investing in tools, or creating a professional space to serve clients.

At Pacific Northwest Tribal Lending, we know entrepreneurs come from every profession and industry.

They are counselors, accountants, attorneys, consultants, fishers, artists, contractors, and business owners working every day to support their families and communities.

Our Small Dollar Loan Program helps provide access to the resources that can help turn the next step into forward momentum.

Because every business starts somewhere.

Today is World Oceans Day. For many Native communities across the Pacific Northwest, the ocean is more than scenery. It is livelihood, tradition, responsibility, and connection.

From commercial fishing vessels to seafood businesses, artists, guides, and family-owned operations tied to the water, the ocean continues to support Native entrepreneurs and coastal communities throughout the region.
Its health matters. Its future matters.

At Pacific Northwest Tribal Lending, we’re proud to support entrepreneurs working hard to sustain both their businesses and the traditions that continue to shape life in the Northwest.

Summer gatherings, markets, festivals, and community events are beginning to fill the calendar across the Northwest .

For many small businesses, these events are more than something to attend. They’re opportunities to connect, grow visibility, meet customers, and strengthen relationships within the community.

If you’re an entrepreneur preparing for a busy summer season, now is a great time to think about:
• event registration
• inventory and supplies
• staffing or scheduling
• payment systems
• signage and branding
• transportation and equipment
• short-term cash flow needs

Preparation today can help create smoother opportunities tomorrow. Where will your business show up this summer?

June in the Pacific Northwest arrives with early mornings, long days, and communities hard at work.

Market booths begin to fill. Fishing boats head out before sunrise. Contractors, artists, makers, and entrepreneurs are building something not just for today, but for future generations.

At Pacific Northwest Tribal Lending, we believe Native entrepreneurship has always been rooted in resilience, relationships, and community.

This summer, we’re excited to continue sharing stories from Native entrepreneurs across the Northwest who are turning ideas into opportunity and carrying traditions forward in new ways.

What happens when Indigenous communities invest in their own stories, artists, entrepreneurs, and future generations?

Amazing things.

We’re excited to see the evolution of Setting Sun Circle as they expand their vision for Indigenous storytelling, education, art, research, and community connection in Northwest Washington. Their future home in downtown Bellingham will create space for artists, cultural programming, youth engagement, entrepreneurship, and Indigenous voices to be seen and heard.

At Pacific Northwest Tribal Lending, we believe strong Native economies are built through more than access to capital. They grow through culture, relationships, storytelling, education, and community-led investment.

Congratulations to the team at Setting Sun Circle as they begin this exciting new chapter. We look forward to seeing the impact their work will continue to have across the region.

Please join us in congratulating our very own Kelli Johnson on being accepted into Gonzaga University’s MBA program in American Indian Entrepreneurship!

This program focuses on Indigenous leadership, entrepreneurship, and building strong, sustainable futures for Native communities and businesses—work that reflects so much of what we believe in at PNTL.

We’re excited to see Kelli continue growing her knowledge, skills, and leadership journey while helping strengthen opportunities across our communities.

Congratulations, Kelli! We’re proud of you and excited for all that’s ahead.

Support doesn’t stop at funding. Sometimes it looks like:
• Talking through an idea
• Figuring out next steps
• Learning from what’s working AND what’s not
• Building confidence before making a move

We’re here for more than just loans. We’re here for the long haul.

There’s nothing quite like gathering around a table with people who share a commitment to Native entrepreneurship and community prosperity.

Thank you to the team from Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Economic Development Corporation for spending time with us at Pacific Northwest Tribal Lending last week.

We enjoyed learning more about your work, sharing updates from ours, and exploring opportunities to continue supporting Native-owned businesses and Tribal communities across the Pacific Northwest together.

Safe travels, and thank you for the visit!
