Local 106 is proud to endorse candidates and propositions that support public safety, our firefighters, and the communities we serve.

Check out our endorsements below and make your voice heard this November!

Without new funding over the next couple of years, staffing at Whatcom County Fire District 1 could be reduced by up to 50%, which could impact response times and limit resources on scene. The good news: you have the power to change that. A levy lid lift on your November ballot would support funding and staffing for years to come. Please vote yes so we can keep showing up when you need us.

Rising costs and growing demand for emergency services are putting pressure on Whatcom County Fire District 1's budget.

The levy lid lift on your November ballot would increase the existing fire levy to help retain staffing, replace aging equipment, and maintain reliable emergency response for our communities.

Bellingham Fire Department is hosting its annual food drive from October 15th through November 15th!

The collection bin will be located at Station 1, 1800 Broadway, just inside the front entry door.

Needed items include peanut butter, canned meat, peanut-free seed and nut butters, pinto beans, rice, boxed dairy and non-dairy milks, diapers, baby formula, menstrual products, and kid-friendly foods.

Thank you for helping support our neighbors facing food insecurity!

“If it wasn’t for the response of the local fire department, I wouldn’t be here.”

One year ago, Dave suffered a cardiac arrest while jogging, and the quick response of Whatcom County Fire District 1 gave him more time with his family and friends.

Without new funding, the district won’t be able to keep its stations fully staffed, which means longer response times.

This November, a levy lid lift on your ballot would keep the district funded for years to come, so that when every second counts, help is there.

106 Week brought IAFF Local 106 members from across Whatcom County together for some camaraderie and friendly competition!

The county edged the City 3 to 2 in kickball, with North Whatcom's Cody Bowen earning MVP honors. The trophy, unfortunately, didn't quite survive the celebration.

Our pickleball podium was a mix of firefighters from Bellingham, Mount Vernon, North Whatcom, and District 16.

Thanks to everyone who came out to connect, compete, and strengthen Local 106!

When every second counts, staffing matters. Half of Whatcom County Fire District 1’s career firefighters are currently funded by a grant that is nearing its end. What does that mean for Everson? Fewer crew members on duty and slower response times for families like yours.

The levy lid lift on your November ballot would keep our stations staffed and ready. A yes vote helps us keep showing up for you.
