We had an incredible time celebrating our 3rd Annual Principal's Day at the beautiful Alger Community Hall!

This year's event was our largest attendance to date, bringing together school leaders from across Whatcom and Skagit Counties to connect, learn, and celebrate the incredible work happening in our schools.

A huge thank you to Tacos Tecalitlan in Burlington for providing a delicious lunch that everyone enjoyed!

We were honored to hear from a retired principal from one of our partner schools, who shared valuable insights from years of serving students and school communities. We also welcomed the Deputy Director from Communities In Schools of Washington (CISWA), who presented on the groundbreaking Harvard study highlighting the lasting impact of Communities In Schools and the power of integrated student supports.

Thank you to every principal and educational leader who joined us. Your partnership, leadership, and commitment to students make this work possible. We are grateful to celebrate with you and look forward to another amazing year together!

The Bellingham DIY Clean, Build and Repair day with Northwest Skate Collective was a huge success! Thank you to City of Bellingham Washington and Whatcom Community Foundation for awarding us the Project Neighborly grant to put this on. Families and their kids got to enjoy a day packed full of fun activities making new connections in their community, and improving a public space that will be enjoyed by so many people.

Huge thank you to Skatelite and Premium Lumber + Materials for donating/supplying all the lumber and materials used for repairing and building the features at the park.

Bellingham Fire Department made a surprise visit and engaged with the kiddos, letting them see all the ins and outs of the fire truck and ambulance.

We are expected to finish building the mini ramp this week and are so excited to have played a part in making this happen in our community. It’s things like this that make our communities stronger, and we all made memories that will last a lifetime in doing so.

The Bellingham DIY Skatepark, Build and Repair day with Northwest Skate Collective was a huge success!

Thank you to City of Bellingham Washington and Whatcom Community Foundation for awarding us the Project Neighborly grant to put this on.

Join us for a day of community engagement at the Bellingham DIY Skatepark!

Communities in Schools of Whatcom-Skagit and Northwest Skate Collective have teamed up to launch a summer kickoff event as part of Project Neighborly, sponsored by City of Bellingham Washington and Whatcom Community Foundation, with the sole intention of bringing our community together.

Activities will include a youth-centered skate feature building workshop, park cleaning & repairs, grip tape art, and impromptu skate lessons throughout the day. The event is free, and all are welcome!

Seeking Support is a Strength, Not a Weakness.

When CIS Site Coordinator Emely Spencer first met Ferndale High School senior Kadence, she was at risk of not graduating on time. She needed to complete both her regular coursework, and her online credit retrieval classes in order to graduate on time. Facing her own challenges outside of school, Kadence’s path to graduating felt uncertain.

We had the amazing opportunity to participate in the Mount Vernon Cinco de Mayo parade over the weekend, and we were joined by some of the students we serve!

We loved seeing so many familiar faces! CISWS partners with six different schools across the Mount Vernon School District, providing integrated student supports to 4,216 students. We’re always grateful for the continued support from Mount Vernon School District.

Such a great turnout for such a wonderful community. Can’t wait till next year. 🇲🇽

We’ve rolled a Nat 20 when it comes to this Community Partnership!

Cosmic Games Bellingham has donated nearly $2,000 of In-Kind donations to CISWS sites during the 2025-2026 academic year including tabletop RPG materials and Nintendo Wiis, all with the goal of improving student engagement and sense of belonging at their schools.

Cooking club at Mount Baker Middle School has been nothing short of amazing! Thanks to and , Communities In Schools of Whatcom-Skagit gets to bring students together to learn essential life skills and build community in their schools.

So far students have learned how to make quesadillas, parfaits, and crepes. Next club meeting we’re learning how to make fried rice!
