BMAG seeks to of

fer members and our surrounding community an avenue to broaden their creative pursuits by striving to:

♦ BMAG is committed to facilitating communication and enhancing engagement between other art organizations and their stakeholders in Bellingham and surrounding communities. How It All Started
A small group of passionate artists, students and teachers began the process of forming BMAG at the end of January, 2012 with a meeting at the now closed Pouncing Rain Jewelry & Metalworking Center. The interests expressed by the 24 people who attended this meeting were noted and used to create our Mission Statement and Objectives along with additional input from others in the community. What We Have Been Doing
♦ We’ve provided classes since 2013
♦ We’ve improved the studio with new resources.
♦ We’ve incorporated as a Washington State nonprofit.
♦ We have received our IRS tax-exempt status 501 (c)(3).

Argentium®: the Magic Silver – Sunday, May 22, 2022 – 10am-5pm
Instructor: Cynthia Topp Cost: $105 (+$20 materials fee)

In this one-day workshop you’ll learn how to work with Argentium®, a special silver alloy that doesn’t tarnish and offers other amazing properties that are different from sterling. You’ll discover how to fuse wire into circles, hearts, teardrops, and all sorts of spirals and squiggles, then fuse to sheet metal, all without using solder! You’ll experiment with granulation, the ancient goldsmithing technique of fusing tiny balls onto a back plate, which can be difficult with sterling but magical with Argentium®. Come to class, fall in love with Argentium®, and walk away with a pendant, a pair of earrings, or possibly both. Masks required.

Setting stones is one of the most commonly requested classes we offer!

Sunday, March 27, 2022, 11am – 6pm
Cost: $135

Students will learn how to create a pedestal prong setting as well as several applications for this setting. A pedestal prong setting is built onto a pedestal or platform that is the same width as the stone and has prongs to keep the stone in place. Prong settings maximize how much of the stone you can see and are incredibly versatile with most jewelry designs.

Materials: Students are encouraged to bring materials. Educator will also have some available as required for the class. Read the FULL Description/Outline at the bottom of this page for important details and Materials/Kit cost.
