NorthWest Washington Central Labor Council

NorthWest Washington Central Labor Council The NWWCLC, AFL-CIO, is the central body of labor organizations in Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan counties, Washington.

Over 21 organizations belong to the Council, and several thousand working men and women belong to Council-affiliated organizations. The Bellingham Central Labor Council was established in 1891 as a representative body for members of organized trades in Whatcom County. The Council was granted an official charter by the American Federation of Labor (AFL) in September 1891, and affiliated on a state

level with the Washington State Federation of Labor. From 1939, the Bellingham Central Labor Council issued a newspaper, Bellingham Labor News, covering labor-related issues and developments at the local and national level. In 1956, the Council was renamed as Whatcom County Central Labor Council.
