On June 6th 2026, L.E.A.D. celebrated the first ever L.E.A.D. With Pride event hosted by L.E.A.D. Codirector Beau Jay and communications intern Bryce S.. At the event we celebrated the interconnection between community, nature and q***rness. We laughed, created, and learned about the history of q***r people within the environmental fields. We also dug into just how q***r nature really is, and that regardless of sexuality or identity — we are just as natural and resilient as the world around us.

Thank you again to all of the individuals who came to celebrate, it was a joyful experience that we can’t wait to do again next year!

I now leave you dear readers, with a quote…

“Nature is fundamentally q***r... When we begin to understand that q***rness is integral to nature, we accept the variance of identities within our own society and selves.”
— The Nature Conservancy in Virginia

Happy Pride from everyone at L.E.A.D. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🫶

Thank you to the dedicated volunteers, partners and staff who came together to build the new extension to L.E.A.D.’s Miyawaki Mini Forest. We truly could not have accomplished this without your help! During this event, we built stairs, created a trail and continued the resilience of the Mini Forest by removing creeping buttercup, English holly, clematis and many others.

Thank you again to all volunteers and partners who participated in this event. Join us again next fall quarter for more fun, community and restoration!

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers this quarter. We celebrated at our last work party of the semester this week. We now look back on the quarter, we removed hundreds of invasive plants, learned about the forest levels through our Miyawaki Mino Forest, built a new trail and so so much more, and the best part? We couldn’t have done it without the help of you!

To the graduates moving on to new adventures, we can’t wait to see what amazing things you will accomplish, and to those returning.. See you next fall!
