Our 4-H appreciation station is back! Coffee, lemonade, ice tea, cookies and fruit 8-9:30am today - Saturday! Volunteers and families make our program successful and we want to say thank you for being part of Whatcom County 4-H! Find us near the Swine barn, in front of the water tower!

The smoke in the air in Whatcom County is a good reminder that Spokane has been hit with a devastating disaster and families are being impacted. Please consider supporting Spokane County 4-H as they work within the community to try and help others.

Paws of Hope: A 4-H Wildfire Pet Relief Drive (August 5–11)
Spokane County 4-H Program is collecting donations to help pets and families affected by the recent Spokane wildfires.

Many families have been forced to evacuate their homes with only minutes to spare. They may have lost their homes, pet supplies, or everything they own. Together, we can help keep pets safe, fed, and with the people who love them.

Donation Items Needed (per Dori Peck, Executive Director of Spokanimal)
We are collecting new, unopened, and unexpired pet supplies, including:
• Dog food
• Cat food
• Cat litter
• Paper towels
• Cleaning supplies

Monetary Donations
If you would prefer to make a financial contribution, you may scan the QR code on the attached flyer to donate directly to SpokAnimal to support displaced pets. Spokanimal provides shelter and support for displaced pets affected by the Spokane wildfires.

Whether you're new to 4-H or you're a seasoned pro, you're invited to join Whatcom County 4-H for our Prepare for Fair workshop. Volunteers, parents and guardians will get a deeper insight into competition and positive youth development at various ages. Youth members will get some fun hands on practice at judging and other Fair activities. Join with your 4-H community to ask questions and learn more about creating a positive Fair experience for all!

Youth members need to have a parent or guardian on site.

Do you have a budding gardener? Spring is the perfect time for hands on learning. Here's a free K-3rd grade Garden Toolkit and other educational resources from Partnership for Food Safety Education & Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation that you can use with kids in a classroom or at home!

The Partnership for Food Safety Education provides food safety classroom materials, including curricula and student activities, for teachers for grades K-12.

Curious about bringing your arts & crafts projects to the NW Washington Fair? Come out to the Lynden Library Monday May 11th form 6:00pm-7:30pm and Explore 4-H Arts with us! Whether you're art pro already in 4-H or curious about joining 4-H, you can have some fun and gain some skills! We'll be focusing on paper arts with a paper quilling project and talking about how to enter projects into the Fair and how to get them ready! If you're looking to join 4-H and check it out, this is a great opportunity. Our "SPIN" club is open for enrollments and will be hosting workshops between now and Fair to work on various projects. To participate at the Fair with 4-H, youth must be enrolled by June 1 (for most projects). RSVP to workshops is requested, link is in the comments. Questions can be emailed to [email protected]. Whether you're in 4-H already and want to explore more projects or you're curious to learn more, our Experience 4-H Workshop series is for you! Parents and kids can come out and learn about various projects found in the NW Washington Fair 4-H Premium Guide and how to get them ready to enter!
