Newport Girls Select Basketball, part of the Eastside Travel League, exists to promote the development of girl basketball players for Newport High School play, focusing on skills above that of casual, recreational play. Newport Girls Select Basketball, led by the Newport Girls Basketball Association (NGBA) is a non-profit basketball club for girls in 4th-8th grade who wish to move beyond the casual nature of recreation league play into a more competitive environment.

2026 SUMMER SKILLS AND DRILLS WITH NEWPORT SELECT GIRLS BASKETBALL

From July 7th to August 11th, join us every Tuesday night at the Tyee Community Gym for Summer Skills Training. Our coaches will help the girls work on their basketball skills and organize scrimmages. The fee is $75 and is open to girls of all experience levels going into 2nd – 8th grade that eventually will go to Newport High School. If your daughter can only make half of the sessions or less, let us know and we can give you a coupon code for half price.

We will have 2 sessions:

6:30-7:45pm: 2nd - 5th graders. Beyond grade level, players will be further divided by skill level: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced
7:45-9:15pm: 6th - 8th graders. Beyond grade level, players will be further divided by skill level: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced

All four Newport Girls Select teams played in the Peak League playoffs this weekend. Congratulations to the 7th and 5th grade teams for taking home the championship! Aggressive defense set the tone and both teams controlled the tempo and energy of both championship games from beginning to end, way to finish strong!

NEWPORT GIRLS BASKETBALL SUMMER CAMP!! ☀️🏀

This year we will have camp from June 24th-26th, with 3 fun days of activities, games, and competitions!

Grades 3-5 (in the fall) : 9-11am☀️
Grades 6-8 (in the fall) : 11-1pm⚔️

EVERY camper will receive a camp T-shirt and basketball + fun drinks after each day! 🧃❤️

Camp will be located in; Newport High Schools MAIN GYM!
Your campers will not only be coached by our amazing girl athletes, but the high school coaching staff!

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING EACH DAY:
basketball/non-slip athletic shoes 👟
Sports clothing ⛹️‍♀️
Water bottle 💧
*optional you may bring your own basketball but we have plenty for ALL the campers! 🏀*

It might be the "offseason" for Newport Girls Select but it was a busy weekend with all teams in action and eight games played.

The highlight of the weekend was the 5th grade team's thrilling overtime victory against their friends on the Blazers. Coach JoJo was there to support his team after his car accident. It was a tight game the whole time and Newport's stifling defense was active all game. There was also great shooting and clutch free throws. And it was also cool to see the best players on the Blazers were Newport players!

The 6th and 7th grade teams played in the D-UP Tournament. Lots of good effort and close games and the 6th grade team took home the championship!

The 4th grade team won their first game of the spring in dominating fashion. Keep putting in the work girls!

What a memorable time this weekend at the State Tournament in Spokane. From a raging snow storm, 8 to 14 hour drives, it was an accomplishment just to arrive in Spokane. All of our teams made it with their full rosters. Our parents and coaches were committed to get to State, nice work!

Our program won a record seven games at the State Tournament. This included three overtime games with one of them being a double overtime game!

Over five months ago at the beginning of the season we had three main goals: have fun, grow as a basketball family, and be playing our best basketball at the State Tournament. You could see all three on full display in Spokane. Great job everyone! Looking forward to seeing our program continue to grow. Go Newport!

We have a record 4 Newport Select Teams qualified for the State Tournament this year. As we head into the last week of a great season, we want to thank Coach Kate, Coach Jovone, Coach A, Coach Chad, Coach Derek and Coach Robert for all their hard work leading our girls this year. Go Newport!

What a weekend for Newport Girls Select! The 4th grade team, 5th grade team, 6th grade team and 8th grade team all won the Peak League Championship! Amazing work by the players, coaches and parents. Lots of growth and our teams are "peaking" at the right time. Let's continue to finish strong at the State Tournament in a couple of weeks. Go Newport!
