The Red Hots of Sarpy County are a locally based nonprofit organization with the sole purpose of supporting individuals with special needs in Sarpy County.

Thank you to everyone that came out today to make the day such a special event. We had some delicious food from Debbie, Michelle and Glenn. Dj Shawn was outstanding as always and played some great music keeping everyone on the dance floor. Last but not least, we were able to sing Happy Birthday to Tina which was a cherry on top of a special day. We’ll see everyone for some bowling fun at The Alley for our next event. Dates and times to follow.

We’re less than 24 hours away from our Christmas Lunch and Dance. Our meal will be provided by Happy Buddha Chinese Restaurant. Music will be from our favorite DJ Shawn. We can’t wait to see everyone at the Bellevue Volunteer Firefighter Hall from 12-3.

It’s with great sadness that i share the news of of the passing of our dear friend and one of our founding members David Brannian. He was always the life of the party. His heart was so kind and full of love. He will truly be missed.

David’s funeral will be Tues 12/2 at 11:00 (visitation one hour prior) at Bellevue Memorial Chapel, luncheon to follow at the Volunteer Firefighters Hall, with burial in Randolph, Iowa afterwards.

Thank you to everyone that came out today to The Alley. It was such a great time. We had over 30 people bowling, eating pizza and socializing with each other. We’ll definitely be doing this again soon because we were treating so well by all the staff there Tell your friends and family our next event will be a movie at Twin Creek Theater with time and date TBD.
Thanks again everyone for a wonderful afternoon.

BIG NEWS EVERYONE IN THE SPECIAL NEEDS COMMUNITY!!!! Our next get together will be the afternoon of June 7th 12-3 at The Alley in Bellevue. We’ll have free bowling and pizza afterwards. Mark your calendars and save the date. If you can RSVP with Dottie at 402-301-9696 or Pat at 402-960-8800 we’d appreciate it to help make sure we have enough lanes and pizza. As always everything is no cost at all so those with special needs can bring their family and help us make this a wonderful event.

We lost one of our founding members this week. Don Gowing passed away on February 15th. He will be greatly missed. Please keep Corey Gowing and family in your thoughts and prayers.

A Visitation for Don will be held on Thursday, February 27 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. both at the Bellevue Memorial Chapel, 2202 Hancock Street, Bellevue, NE 68005.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2302 Crawford Street, Bellevue, NE 68005.

Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Rd, Omaha, NE 68138, where Don will be laid to rest.

Military Honors by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus #6192 or Bellevue Special Olympics.
