On Monday, May 25, 2026, all schools and district offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. Tuesday, May 26, is a non-school day.

Memorial Day is a national holiday dedicated to honoring those who gave their lives in service to our country. Originally known as Decoration Day, this tradition began during the American Civil War, when communities placed flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers. As we enjoy the day with family and friends, let us also take a moment to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

Submit the name of a PTA volunteer who you believe has displayed exemplary and outstanding volunteerism and service to PTA, school, and community during the 2025-2026 school year for the Golden Acorn Award. Recognition of an individual who makes a huge difference to PTA supporting our children, is such a great way to acknowledge how much their service matters. The Newport Heights PTA recognizes 2 individuals a year.

Award winners will receive a pin, their name placed on a legacy plaque displayed at the school.

Get ready… we’re going out of this world.
Join us for the Newport Heights Glow Dance on Friday, April 24 from 6–8 PM in the NHE cafeteria/gym. Think neon lights, music, and a room full of kids (and parents) lighting up the night.
Dress in white or neon to really glow.
There will be a DJ, dancing, and plenty of energy for all ages. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the 5th Grade Grad Party (cash or PayPal accepted).
A quick note: this is NOT a drop-off event. You must stay with your student.
