🐻 FAT BEAR WEEK IS HERE!

We're Search & Rescue, so naturally we're fans of anything involving the outdoors, questionable amounts of snacks, and preparing for difficult conditions. 😂

Fat Bear Week is fun, BUT it's also a great reminder that fall is an active time for bears as they work very hard to pack on calories before winter.

If you're heading into bear country, be bear aware: make noise, give wildlife plenty of space, keep food secured, and know what to do if you encounter a bear.

Then come home safely and vote for your favorite certified chonk. 🐻

Which bear gets your vote?

Stay safe. Stay found. And please don't try to get a Fat Bear Week selfie. 😂

Thank you to Wisconsin K9 SOS for this. We train hard and often to be at our best when you need us. Stay safe out there.

We are reached through 911 and are volunteers. A free resource for those who call upon us.

Thank you to Wisconsin K9 SOS for the earlier share of this. We train hard and often to be at our best when you need us. But stay safe out there.

“Saving lives is an addiction.”

The Seattle Times takes a look behind the scenes at the volunteers of King County Search & Rescue - who train, respond at all hours, and keep coming back when someone needs help.

We’re proud to be part of this incredible community of volunteers.

Great article about the people behind the missions. 👇

We welcome more volunteers.

We have several units and roles, including admin, vehicle maintenance, radio, social media… not everyone has to hike and drive and be ready 24/7. For more info, go to https://kingcountysar.org/

With thousands of new hikers, climbers, and bikers heading into the wilderness, the people who rescue them are hitting a breaking point. The best way you can help? Sign up.
