Empowering Mayan youth to break the generational cycle of poverty in the Ixil region of Guatemala through Christ-centered education.

The Problem
•Less than 20% of the children attend school beyond 6th grade.
•Village parents typically do not have an education beyond 6th grade, are focused on survival, and have difficulty modeling the importance of additional education.

Today, Colegio Cristiano Nicolás proudly launched its first Intensive English Course in partnership with INTECAP, led by Miss Ivet.

This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to academic excellence. Following INTECAP’s rigorous placement assessment, all 20 participating students demonstrated the proficiency needed to begin the program at the A2 level—not as beginners, but with a strong foundation already in place.

Representing four grade levels, these students are taking an important step toward greater opportunities in higher education, technology, employment, and international communication. Their achievement is also a testament to the dedication of our English teachers and the intentional curricular development promoted at our school.

We are deeply grateful to INTECAP for its professional assessment and partnership, to Miss Ivet for leading this first group, and to every teacher who has helped prepare our students for this opportunity.

Beginning at A2 is more than the start of a course—it is evidence of progress and a foundation for continued growth. With gratitude to God, we move forward committed to excellence, opportunity, and continuous improvement.

A 7.3 scale earthquake hit the Ixil today. The epicenter was off Chiapis, Mexico in the ocean. Our students and staff at Nicolas Christian School are all safe. Students evacuated safely to the soccer field adjacent to the school. No damage to school that we are aware of. Thanks be to God everyone in the Ixil appears safe but it was a strong earthquake.
