Northwest Translators & Interpreters Society (NOTIS)

NOTIS is a regional chapter of the American Translators Association and a forum for T&I professionals in the Pacific Northwest to connect, learn, and grow in their fields. The Northwest Translators & Interpreters Society (NOTIS) was established in April 1988 as a forum for professional translators and interpreters in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. In view of our strategic position in

international trade and of its growing importance in international travel, practicing translators and interpreters, as well as the local and regional business communities benefit from the existence of an active professional group like NOTIS.

Dear colleagues, We are posting today with a heavy heart. This past April, we said goodbye to our dear friend and colleague, ๐ƒ๐š๐ฏ๐ข๐ ๐๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ (1962โ€“2026): a passionate Vietnameseโ€“English interpreter and a pillar in his community.

We have published a collective eulogy in his honor on the ๐‘ต๐’๐’“๐’•๐’‰๐’˜๐’†๐’”๐’• ๐‘ณ๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ๐’–๐’Š๐’”๐’• ๐‘ฉ๐’๐’๐’ˆ, comprised of tributes from Emma Garkavi and Rosemary Nguyen followed by some of Davidโ€™s own words โ€” written more than a decade ago when he served on the board of WITS (later NOTIS).

We invite you to read the eulogy here: https://notisnet.org/Blog/13639252. If you would like to share some thoughts or memories of your own, we encourage you to do so in the comment section of the blog post or in a direct email to [email protected].

With your permission, we would be honored to incorporate your words into the eulogy, allowing it to become something of a living testament to a truly remarkable man.

Yours sincerely, โ€”The NOTIS Board of Directors
