Waiting for a shelter bed shouldnโ€™t mean going without a meal, a shower, or someone to help.

While they wait, men who come to PorchLight can access meals, showers, laundry, and support through our Day Center. Our outreach team also connects with men in the community, helping them access services and stay connected.

These services help men care for their health, get to work, keep appointments, and take the next step toward stability.

MISSION IN MOTION | More Housing in Kirkland

A house becomes something more when it becomes a place to call home.

PorchLight has added a three-bedroom home in Kirkland to our housing program, creating another stable housing option for men moving out of homelessness.

The home is being leased to PorchLight by the City of Kirkland, putting an existing community resource to work as housing for the men we serve.

Finding affordable housing remains one of the biggest challenges facing men working to leave homelessness. Every additional home gives us another opportunity to help someone take that next step toward stable living.

We are grateful to the City of Kirkland for its partnership and for helping make more housing possible in our community.

At our recent event, guests were invited to write a note of encouragement to the men we serve at PorchLight.

They wrote dozens.

Some were just a few words. Others filled the page. Each was a small reminder that someone in the community was thinking about the person who would eventually read it.

This is one of those notes.

Sometimes a few words can say exactly what someone needs to hear: You matter. Keep going.

Every conversation is an opportunity to build community Beyond the Porch.

On Tuesday, PorchLight staff participated in Microsoftโ€™s Give Connection Day, leading into the companyโ€™s October Month of Giving. We had the chance to share who we are, what we do, and how employees can support men experiencing homelessness in our community.

We spoke with many Microsoft employees interested in getting involved, especially through volunteering. Their questions, curiosity, and interest in giving their time made for a great day of connection.

Thank you to Microsoft for inviting us and to everyone who stopped by to learn more about PorchLight. We hope to see some of you again soon!

What a day.

Our community came together for PorchLightโ€™s 2026 Light the Way Luncheon, and we are still feeling incredibly grateful for everyone who filled the room.

You came to the table as sponsors, donors, staff, volunteers, partners, friends, and neighbors. You listened. You connected. And together, you helped us reach 95% of our fundraising goal.

Those dollars will go directly to the work happening every day at PorchLight: providing shelter, meals, support, and connections to housing for men experiencing homelessness across East King County.

Thank you to our MC, Alex Schrempf, our speakers, sponsors, volunteers, Board members, staff, and every person who joined us. And thank you to everyone who gave.

We left the luncheon reminded of something we see every day at PorchLight: when a community makes room at the table, there is so much we can accomplish together.

For Bellden Cafe, supporting the community isnโ€™t something separate from doing business. Itโ€™s part of how they do business.

This Bellevue social enterprise has built giving, community partnerships and workforce opportunities into its mission. PorchLight has been fortunate to be among the local organizations Bellden has supported through the years.

Now they are showing up for our work again as a Partner Level sponsor of the 2026 Light the Way Luncheon: A Place at the Table.
