Gurukul is a non-profit organization registered in the state of Washington and serving the Seattle area community since 1998. Indian language classes are offered in Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi. In addition, Indian culture education is imparted to children through various activities like celebrating Indian festivals such as Diwali and Holi. Gurukul showcases various forms of Indian arts such as In
dian musical instruments, vocal singing, Indian classical and folk dances for children through live performances by local artists. At the end of the Gurukul school year, children demonstrate their learning via performances on Annual Day. Gurukul is registered as 501(c)(3) organization with IRS. Classes are offered to kids 5 years or older. Each class may have 15-20 students with up to 3 adult volunteer teachers. Teachers are parent volunteers. All classes and activities are held on Sundays between 9:30 am and 1:15 pm. Gurukul follows the Bellevue school district calendar for holidays. A total of about 30 sessions are held in a school year starting after Labor Day and finishing around Memorial Day.
