New School Year, New Leadership

Meet the Principal:

Dr. Lawrence Rainey, Interim Principal of Dr. Katie Harper Wright Elementary School - Dr. Rainey is a highly respected and experienced assistant principal within our district, known for his warm, approachable leadership style and strong connections with students, staff, and families. Previously, he has been an influential special education teacher at Dr. Wright Elementary and an experienced principal outside of our school district. His ability to foster a positive school culture and support student success has made him a trusted presence in our schools. We are proud to welcome him as the interim principal of Dr. Katie Harper Wright Elementary, where he will continue to lead with compassion, dedication, and a clear vision for academic excellence.

Feb 16 - Collinsville, IL: Chapter members volunteered their time to speak with the Collinsville High School community regarding the history and mission of the Fraternity as part of their "Divine 9 Day". Students learned about the differences between a Fraternity and a Sorority. Special mention was made to the bond between Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Jan 28 - Collinsville, IL: Nu Gamma Sigma members attended the final event of Founders' Celebration of Zeta Phi Beta hosted by the MadCounty IL Zetas. The event was called the Unbreakable Bond Awards Luncheon. Members of the D9 community were acknowledged for their leadership and commitment. Nu Gamma Sigma President, Ronald McClellan, and Bro Carlos Glenn both received the 2024 Brotherhood Award. Congratulations to all the winners and for a successful launch of a tradition.

Jan 20 - Godfrey, IL: Members of Nu Gamma Sigma Chapter attended the inaugural Tea And Table Talk event held by the ladies of Delta Alpha Omicron Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. as part of their 2024 Founders' Week. The event was held in an intimate setting. Members of Phi Beta Sigma provided a historical account of the Fraternity's history followed by an accounting of the events that lead up to the creation of our constitutional bond. Recognition was provided to some of the Sorority's and Chapter's pioneers and their early beginnings. The event was attended by fellow NPHC members. Jan 18 - East St. Louis City Hall: Members volunteered their time and resources to host the NPHC monthly meeting. It's customary for delegates from each Chapter to host a meeting by providing refreshments after the meeting is over. Tonight's meal was prepared by Tenisha McIntosh of Jay Cee Catering and Decorations. All indications point to a successful effort by those that volunteered.

Jan 14 - East St. Louis, IL: Members of Nu Gamma Sigma Chapter stood shoulder to shoulder with fellow NPHC Chapters as part of the NAACP of East St. Louis Dr. Martin Luther King Day Celebration. This is a signature event for the NAACP. The event highlighted the life of Dr. King while elevating his message of coexistence, peace, and inclusion.
