While Second Session was working at the Chili Chase 5K, we ran into two Belleville CEO parents and local entrepreneurs, Raphael of Hi Neighbor hineighbor618 and Kenrick Chambers of Da Lytes on Productions dalytesonproductions. Both gentlemen were capturing media imagery of the Chili Chase and Chili Cook-off. Does entrepreneurship run in the family? Perhaps it might. 🤔

“Our Badge Business CEO Pickleball Tournament held on October 4 was an immense success. Many teams showed up and showed out, combining competition with community and fun to create an enjoyable event. Session 1 worked hard for weeks on end to put together this event, learning important lessons in teamwork, organization, networking, and professionalism, while building a bigger sense of belonging in the community. This event wouldn’t have been possible without my fellow Session 1 Belleville CEO members, our treasurer, Malia Tigue, our sponsors, and most importantly, the teams and spectators. Thank you to everyone who came to support our Badge Business and stay tuned for information on our Class and Personal Businesses to come!”

"Tuesday morning, the CEO Sessions were able to host a guest speaker, Ann Hug, and learn about leadership skills. Her presentation focused on the differences between a leader, boss, and manager. We learned about the different skills that come with being a leader and the characteristics that can make work environments positive.

We participated in a listening and instruction-giving activity in pairs, where one person described an image and the other had to listen and draw while they were not allowed to talk or ask follow-up questions. This showed us how hard it can be to communicate with someone if you aren't fully engaged or listening.

“Did you know Leaders and bosses are two separate things? Ann Hug, Vice-President of Clinical Operations at SSM Heath Physical Therapy, explained these differences in her presentation this past week. While providing valuable insights on the difference between a successful workspace and a toxic one, Ann Hug also integrated an immersive communication exercise that gave Session 1 a team bonding opportunity. She showed us how leadership, communication and positive work culture contributes to a successful business.”

Yesterday, both sessions attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for the National Children's Cancer Society (NCCS). First Session’s Ahmed Brooks said, “During our visit to the National Children’s Cancer Society, we learned how much of an impact an organization can make on families facing childhood cancer. One part that stood out was watching Amelia’s Story. Amelia and her family had to make nearly 40 trips to New York so she could receive the specialized treatment she needed. NCCS helped support her family with transportation and other resources, showing how much of a difference their work makes. We also learned how NCCS partners with businesses and individuals to raise money. One example that surprised me was a Twitch streamer who donates half of her earnings to support their mission as they helped her son in the past. This showed me that anyone can use their platform, resources, or talents to help others. Our visit reminded me that making a difference doesn’t always require a large organization or a lot of money. Sometimes, it starts with people coming together and finding ways to help those who need it most.”

Second Session's Kenna Totel said, "It was a meaningful event that brought our community together to support those affected by cancer. We are grateful to be part of the celebration of an organization that helps spread awareness, hope, and support. We got to move through stations and see how their fundraising process works. Events like this remind us of the importance of coming together and making a difference, as they reach out to multiple third world countries."
