For Karen Cheney, honoring her late husband Larry also meant investing in the future of the community he loved.

Larry grew up in Hunter, graduated from Hunter High School in 1965 and, after serving in the U.S. Navy, returned home to give back as a city council member, mayor, commander of American Legion Post 77 and volunteer firefighter.

The founding donation to the new Hunter Huntsman Fund was made in his memory, creating the foundation for a lasting resource dedicated to the Hunter community.

As the fund grows, it will help support local projects, educational opportunities, historic preservation, community improvements and needs that may not even exist yet — with local voices helping guide where those dollars can make the greatest difference.

It's a way to honor where Hunter has been while investing in where it's going next.
