Over the past several months Aldermen Chris Rothweiler, Alderwoman Mary Stiehl, and Barb Swantner the new Charlie’s place owner railroaded our project to where we were not able to meet our contract contingencies prior to the contract’s closing date. At city council this evening, they denied granting us a contract extension to successfully work through these contingencies and get to the closing table causing our contract to be terminated.
Also voting no was Brian Whitaker, Kara Osthof, Phil Elmore, Scott Ferguson,  Edward Dintelman, Denny Weigandt, Lillian Schneider, Raffi Ovarian.
I have been promoting and investing in this community for over 20 years and have managed to ignore the absorbent amount of people suggesting we stop bothering with Belleville and focus our time and investments elsewhere, and to all of them I’ve said NO because I believe in Belleville and all its potential. I am extremely sorry to the hundreds of community residents and supporters who backed our petition, their voices were not heard and our efforts in communicating our project plans and answering “neighborhood concerns” were ignored. The residents of this community deserve better, and in the meantime another Belleville building continues to dilapidate and sit empty.
